Kforce Application Engineer in Beaverton, Oregon

Kforce has a client seeking an Application Engineer in Beaverton, Oregon (OR). The nature of the work is focused on the company's computer and telephony technology tools used to create, store, exchange, and use all forms of information.Duties Include:

  • Develops action plans and processes, in coordination with management team, for integrating activities and optimizing department resources to meet major goals and objectives

  • Manages employees, sets goals, coach's staff, supports development, collaborates on hiring decisions, disciplinary actions, performance management, and recognition, and rewards

  • Facilitates or performs application support, problem solving, and issue resolution with internal and external resources

  • Contributes and reviews recommendations for technical solutions. Manages and/or contributes to the technical components of the RFP process

  • Resolves issues and determines options for issue resolution and risk mitigation

  • Defines and communicates requirements for technical environments and determines the technical scope for projects

  • Provides technical estimates for project budget input to Senior/Project Manager

  • Leads and owns engagements with software vendors to ensure that code and configuration requirements and deliverables are met

  • Enforces architecture, governance, security, and global process standards to system changes and deployments

  • Coordinates compliance issue identification and remediation

  • Collaborates with other teams on integration needs/design

  • Contributes to database design and creates critical-path, high-risk, advanced technical designs

  • Approves proof of concept efforts and reviews technical designs

  • Approves proof of concept efforts and reviews results

  • Enforce company and department architectural direction and ensure consistent technical approach

  • Typically requires a Bachelor's degree and minimum of 5 years directly relevant work experience; one of the following alternatives may be accepted: PhD or Law 3 years; Masters 4 years; Associates degree 6 years; High School diploma or equivalent 7 years

Expert in Tableau:

  • Creation/enhancement of reports and dashboards

  • Use of calculated variables

  • Use of custom formatting

  • Report scheduling, including event-based triggers

  • Automation of refreshes and delivery

Proficient in BI tool administration functions including:

  • Management of user security/access

  • Performance tuning assessment and implementation

  • Monitor site activity (view counts, etc)

  • Experience with Tableau as an administrator, including providing installation, administration, configuration, maintenance, performance monitoring, and tuning support

  • Experience with tabcmd and tabadmin

  • Experience with Active Directory

  • Ability to manage server health and performance

  • Proficient in use of SQL

  • Experience with accessing data stored on Big Data platforms (e.g. Hadoop, NOSQL) for data analysis and presentation purposes

  • Familiar with data warehousing concepts and constructs, including star schema data models to be able to recommend aggregated data structures or calculated data elements in order to optimize report/dashboard performance

  • Able to work independently and within small IT teams (5 - 10 IT professionals)

  • Strong documentation skills; must have experience writing technical design documents

  • Optional: Knowledge of other Business Intelligence Tools a plus, (e.g. Amazon Quick Sights, Business Objects, Cognos, QlikView, and MicroStrategy)
