This position will adhere to all OSU and Department of Recreational Sports (DRS) policies and procedures. The goal of DRS custodial services is to provide a clean, safe and welcoming environment in all DRS facilities. The primary purpose of this position is to contribute to the successful delivery of DRS programs and services through seamless integration of exemplary custodial services within all department areas. Custodial staff are committed to the overall success and satisfaction of DRS participants and the OSU Community. The Custodial Services Coordinator performs cleaning and general maintenance in support of department efforts to sustain the facilities and assets of DRS. The Custodial Services Coordinator coordinates custodial work and provides services and support in all DRS facilities (Dixon Recreation Center, McAlexander Field House, Student Legacy Park (SLP) Complex, SLP Tennis Center, SLP Pavilion). This position is responsible to perform regular daily custodial service, monitor facility standards, assure custodial staffing needs outside their working hours are met, and perform custodial staff training when necessary. Additionally, the Custodial Services Coordinator will be tasked with maintaining cleaning supply inventories, exterior matting programs and performing light-duty maintenance tasks (changing light bulbs, maintaining vacuums and submitting Work Orders to Facility Operations) in the event that repairs to the facility and equipment are needed.

Minimum Qualifications (Staff) / Guidelines (Faculty):

Two years of experience in custodial services work.

Requirements :

Physical ability to perform work and two years of experience as a custodian, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Understand written and verbal instructions.

Effectively interact and communicate in a variety of situations.

Work independently with minimal supervision.

Demonstrated professional experience cleaning public buildings which might include schools, hospitals, conference centers, museums, theaters, etc.

Demonstrated professional experience working as both a member of a custodial team and in a leadership role on a cleaning team.

A demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity.

This position requires CPR and AED certification and additional training and will be provided by the department upon hire or within first 90 days.

This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a Criminal History Check and be determined to be position qualified as per OSU Standard 576-055-0000 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in Youth Programs may have additional Criminal History Checks every 24 months.

This position requires driving a University vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of the University; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a Motor Vehicle History Check, possess and maintain a current, valid driver’s license in their state of residence, be determined to be position qualified and self-report convictions as per OSU Standard 576-056-0000 et seq.


These positions work in various environments including but not limited to: Recreation/sport/activity space, office/work environment, locker room/restrooms, exterior hardscape/grounds. This position may work outside during seasonally varying weather conditions. These positions interact with participants and general public on a daily basis. Typical work shift is either: M-F from 12:00am – 8:30am, or Sat-W from 4:00am – 12:30pm, or W-Sun from 4:00am – 12:30pm, or F-Tu from 4:00am – 12:30pm, or 12:00pm to 8:30pm, 5 days per week which may include weekends. Has the potential of serving in an on call rotation for after-hours clean-up needs throughout the year. May need to flex schedule to accommodate special events/needs. This employee will perform and coordinate daily cleaning duties in five different facilities across the campus.
