This recruitment will be used to fill one full-time Temporary Biological Sciences Research Technician 1 position for the Institute of Natural Resources at Oregon State University (OSU).
This position will be located in Yreka, California.
This position is responsible for non-invasively monitoring fishers in the Klamath-Siskiyou ecoregion. Monitoring activities will include deploying baited hair sampling stations, track plates, and camera stations. Position starts 18 September 2017 and ends 30 November 2017. Housing will be provided.
Minimum Qualifications (Staff) / Guidelines (Faculty):
Two years of college-level courses in (specific field of biological science); OR an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Knowledge of wildlife biology and of basic survey and monitoring methods for wildlife and vegetation.
Experience collecting data from remote hair-snare stations and collecting habitat data in the field.
A high degree of personal initiative and excellent interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to work independently in the field and in collaboration with others to collect biological information and maintain accurate and detailed records of data collected.
Ability to navigate off-trail using topographic maps, compass, and Global Positioning System (GPS)
Experience operating 4-wheel drive vehicles on dirt and gravel roads
This position requires driving a University vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of the University; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a Motor Vehicle History Check, possess and maintain a current, valid driver’s license in their state of residence, be determined to be position qualified and self-report convictions (as per Voluntary and Compulsory Driver Standards OSU Standard 125-155-0200)
