NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.

Duties

As a POWERED SUPPORT SYSTEMS MECHANIC, WG-5378-10, you will install, repair, maintain, service, and modify scheduled/unscheduled inspections on aircraft arresting systems and electrical power production equipment specifically Aircraft Arresting Systems and Electrical Power Production Systems, Duties include but are not limited to:

Performing daily, weekly, and monthly inspections, and off-equipment maintenance, on aircraft arresting systems. Accomplishes gasoline engine rebuilding to include removal and replacement of clutches, carburetors, starters, distributors, fuel pumps, springs and other integral parts. Installs, repairs, maintains, and modifies electrical power production equipment. Performs repair of components such as fixed gasoline or diesel engines, generators, centrifuges, starter motors, and associated generating and distributing equipment.

Qualifications

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Work involves the maintenance and repair of powered ground and similar support equipment used for aircraft ground servicing; missile, aircraft, air control, and radar installations powered support; field combat support; engineering and construction project support; and general utilities, including standby and emergency power generating systems. Experience or training which demonstrates the knowledge of mechanical maintenance work; ability to read and use technical manuals, illustrations, diagrams and schematics, and skill in the use of equipment and hand tools used in troubleshooting, testing and repairing equipment.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE*:* Within your resume work history you must show 18 months of experience removing, adjusting, replacing, cleaning, and installing parts, components, and accessories. Experience which provided working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic theory applying to powered support equipment and systems; and skill to replace, fit, install, and make adjustments. Experience which provided working knowledge of the makeup and operation of the various individual systems maintained and their interrelationships. Experience reading and interpreting parts lists, manufactures' repair manuals, diagrams, and electrical schematics.

MILITARY REQUIREMENTS:

Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership.
