Physical Demands: The work involves sitting and standing, typically in a public room environment. Moderate lifting of plats and public information documents may be required. Work Environment: Work is performed in an office building that requires normal safety precautions.
Provide front desk coverage for the public room in the Oregon/Washington State Office. Provide customer service support in person and over the phone. Interact with the public, providing information and guidance regarding BLM and other programs and procedures. Respond to complex inquiries concerning such matters as land ownership, recreational opportunities, mining claims and rights-of-way. Sell documents, maps, permits, recreation permits, Forest passes and similar permits and materials. Be designated as a cashier/collections officer.

For the GS-06, one year of specialized experience equivalent to a GS-05 in the federal service OR six months of graduate level education.
For the GS-07, one year of specialized experience equivalent to a GS-06 in the federal service OR one full year of graduate level education.
The education must have been in a directly related field to be creditable.
If qualifying based on education you will need to clearly state your undergraduate/graduate degree(s) and submit your college transcripts or a listing of your college courses that includes hours and grades.
Specialized Experience Requirements: In order to be rated as qualified for this position, we must be able to determine that you meet the specialized experience requirement - please be sure to include this information in your resume. To be creditable, this experience must have been equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade of the position to be filled. Examples: Experience in providing customer service both over the phone, via email, and in person. Provide direction to customers on forms required and how to complete them. Experience researching legal documents and preparing written responses to inquiries.
You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement. Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade requirement in accordance with 5 CFR 300.604. If you are a current Federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must have completed a minimum of 52 weeks at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled.
