Desktop Specialist Internship
This 8-week full-time internship is scheduled to start in July 2017
Responsibilities & Requirements:
The Desktop Specialist Intern will support the Infrastructure Field Services team. This team is responsible for the timely deployment and maximum availability of the Cambia desktop infrastructure (data, voice, video) by analyzing the individual desktop environments and making configuration decisions regarding operating system, system applications, environmental variables and desktop hardware.
As a Desktop Specialist Intern, you will:
Provide customer support through direct interaction with end users by telephone, chat, remote connectivity
Analyze and document customer request requirements and problem symptoms to make recommendations and collaborate with IT professionals
Participate in the daily and long term support requirements for the internal desktop environment. Take action as directed to ensure maximum system availability.
Skilled with analyzing and documenting Customer request requirements and problem symptoms to make recommendations and implement moves, adds, changes, and maintenance of desktop equipment, and internal data and telecommunication wiring infrastructure.
Respond to and escalate issues and requests to ensure needs of business are met.
Administer file systems and tracking of asset inventory, databases, diagrams and other documents.
Collaborate effectively with internal and cross department peers to provide results to management in a timely matter through case updates, weekly project reporting, Q/A reporting.
Meet established deadlines while maintaining a high level of quality. Negotiate changes to delivery dates as necessary.
Create and close Help Desk incidents in a timely manner including updating worklog with pertinent information and commitments to customers.
Combine your academic experience with the following skills and abilities:
Currently enrolled in or planning to pursue an undergraduate degree in Business Information Systems, Communications, Computer Science or a related field
Candidates must have a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Highly Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel & PowerPoint)
Desire to learn more about Information Technology career paths
Possess experience in setting up and working on computer hardware; providing network and PC support; and/or working with end-user customers to resolve and work through issues a plus
Familiar with current desktop technology including personal computers, laptops, peripherals (i.e. mouse, keyboard, speakers), smart phones (iOS, Android, Windows), printers and print services, industry standards and trends
Prior customer service experience a plus
Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States
