Functions/Duties of Position

This position provides comprehensive coordination of services for the Pediatric Gastroenterology Practice. This position is responsible for being a liaison between the OHSU providers and patient families, contacting patients to arrange scheduled care post hospitalization or post clinic. The position is responsible for coordinating all services related to the GI procedure lab including scheduling and all insurance verification and authorization tasks. This position also serves as the managed care coordinator for EEGs scheduled through the Pediatric Neurology department. Additionally this position serves as a backup role for procedure scheduling in Pediatric Specialties and outpatient clinic scheduling for Pediatric GI. Excellent customer service skills is an essential requirement for this position.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • One year of experience in a medical office setting, including high-volume directpatient contact, scheduling of appointments and obtaining managed care authorizations
  • The candidate must have a thorough knowledge of PAS policies and procedures
  • Candidates will have demonstrated advanced PAS user skills as well as extensive knowledge of integrated care at OHSU
  • Basic computer skills including word processing
  • Windows applications, on-linescheduling, and a preference for data-base skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in confrontational customer interactions
  • Cadence, EpicCare, EARL, Microsoft Word, Ipath, online eligibility insurance verification experience
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation

PREFERRED QUALIFICAITONS:

  • 2 years at OHSU experience as PAS Specialist or 1.5 years as a PAS Resource Specialist
  • Minimum of 1 year surgery or procedure scheduling experience
  • Doernbecher, Pediatric or Gastroenterology experience
  • Experience scheduling procedures
  • Spanish language skills
  • OpTime
