Responsibilities

The Assistant Clinical Director supports the Clinical Director in his/her responsibilities for leading and managing the clinical operations of the Medical Center's Primary Care Division.

The Assistant Clinical Director works across all Primary Care clinic locations within the purview of the Medical Center to further develop and improve the clinical operations of the Primary Care Division. This includes working with the leadership and staff of the other Divisions within the Medical Center.

The incumbent works with the Clinical Director to achieve Division and Medical Center objectives such as access and quality of care standards, clinical performance targets, and process improvement and patient satisfaction goals. (S)he assists the Clinical Director in ensuring that the policies, practices, and services within the clinics and individual practices are consistent with the mission and vision of the Primary Care Division, the Portland VA Medical Center, the VA Northwest Health Network/Veterans Integrated Service Network 20, and the Veterans Health Administration Central Office. (S)he will work with other divisions and services within the medical center to achieve compliance with internal and, external regulatory and accreditation standard such as the Joint Commission, Office of the Inspector General, and the US Department of Labor's Occupational Safety & Health Administration.

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with on-call duties required (evenings/weekends), as necessary.

In order to qualify for this position you must meet the following:

Basic Requirements: **

  • Must be proficient in written and spoken English.
  • Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine.
  • Current, full and unrestriced license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
  • Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
