Providence Health & Services RN - Outpatient Infusion in Portland, Oregon


Providence is calling an on-call/Resource Registered Nurse to work in our 16 bay Outpatient Infusion department (0.0 FTE, Days) at Providence Portland Medical Center in Portland, OR. This is a fast-paced unit where we may see 35 - 45 patients/day. On-call hours will vary as there are 5, staggered start times from 0700 to 1100, 8 to 10 hours/day. The unit closes at 1930.

In this position, you will:

  • Provide and supervise professional, independent nursing care for Providence patients that is as evidence-based as possible.

  • Provide care based on the nursing process and that is consistent with the Oregon Nurse Practice Act.

  • Apply knowledge of assessing, planning, ordering, giving, delegating, teaching and supervise professional nursing care delivery that promotes patients’ optimal health and independence.

  • Utilize a broad range of general nursing knowledge and expertise.

  • Develop and validate knowledge and skills essential to the assigned department, patient population and/or practice area.

  • Participate in and lead clinical teams and supervise, assign or delegate to licensed practical nurses (LPN’s), certified nursing assistants (CNA’s) and other health care workers.


Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Current, unencumbered Oregon Registered Nurse (RN) license

  • Oncology Nursing Certification (OCN) within 2 years of employment

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) at time of hire. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (AHA-BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification within 6 months of hire

  • 2 years of oncology RN experience

  • Relevant training and certifications applicable to the position, as specified by the Nurse Manager - i.e. bio/chemo certification within 6 months, use of EPIC, IV pumps, glucometers.

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing strongly preferred. Required for newly hired Registered Nurses as of 2018

  • Oncology Nursing Certification (OCN)

  • Bio/chemo certification
