Overview:

ACS Professional Staffing is looking for anemployee to work on-site with our client.This intermittent, part-time/full-time on-call contract position will provide professional and confidential technical writing support to the Power Rates (PSR) organization. This position prepares, formats, reviews, and edits documents related to Power and Transmission rate cases and other processes. This position will also work with the Residential Exchange Program (PSI) group and other Power Services groups, various organizations within Transmission Services, Office of General Counsel, and other organizations as needed to complete assignments. This position will serve intermittently on a part-time and full-time, on-call basis to support these projects, and must be available to work a flexible work schedule, and in particular, nights and weekends. The nature of the work, the technical skills required, as well as the work hours and intensity, will be similar to that experienced by legal secretaries when preparing briefs and exhibits on a deadline. The hours this position will work will vary widely from month-to-month and week-to-week, with little to no time claimed one week, to 10 or more hours of overtime needed the following week. The work schedule of this position is also extremely intermittent. There will be periods of possibly many months that no work will be needed and conversely, several months where part and full-time work will be required. Estimated hours per year: approximately 250 to 450.This position is located in Portland, OR; some work may be performed remotely.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with rates staff, economists, hydrologists, financial analysts, and products groups and attorneys, and, as needed, contracts, communications, AEs, and other staff:

  • Review, compile and edit for consistency, clarity and conformity technical and other documents drafted by subject matter experts, attorneys and other staff. Must be reasonably versed in utility-related terminology used by a variety of subject matter experts, attorneys and other staff.

  • Review and edit documents with multiple authors to ensure consistency in terminology, tone (“one voice”) and tense, clarity, messaging, etc.

  • Collect and review technical data for editing and formatting into documentation acceptable for distribution.

  • Provide word processing and proofreading assistance for the publication of Average System Cost Draft and Final Reports.

  • Prepare, review and edit documents for Account Executives (AEs), customers, and interested parties regarding rate cases, proposals and other processes.

  • Develop and maintain document formats and templates.

  • Develop design specification and standards documents.

  • Monitor and report on workflow based on established deadlines for document production

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in English, Communications, Journalism, or a related field is desirable.

  • 1 - 4 years’ work-related experience isrequired.

  • Work experience in energy/utility industry is desirable.

  • Work experience on power, transmission or natural gas rate cases is highly desirable.

  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office suite software (MS Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel); (MS Office 2010 proficiency isrequired).

  • Excellent spelling, grammar, punctuation, proofreading and editing skillsrequired. Position requires a high degree of accuracy.

  • Ability to work on a temporary, on-call basis with flexible work hours, including nights and weekends isrequired. Given the tight schedule and volume of documents that generally will need to be completed by specified deadlines, it is anticipated that the workload for one to four weeks immediately preceding the respective deadlines will be heavy and that it will likely be necessary to work on nights and weekends (in addition to weekdays).

  • Must be able to adhere to consistent, established document formatting requirements, have a high level of typing accuracy, and be detail-oriented; solid typing skills are needed, but typing speed is a secondary requirement to other associated skills and abilities.

  • Must possess the ability to PDF and “bookmark” documents once they are completed.

  • Carry out assigned tasks with a professional demeanor reflected in excellent written and oral communication skills, listening skills, patience, analytical reasoning and problem-solving abilities.

  • Work autonomously, given specific assignments.

Additional Requirements:

  • This part-time position will serve up to 40 hours/week on a temporary, on-call basis, with the potential for up to 50% overtime as needed. The selected candidates mustbe available to work a flexible work schedule, and in particular nights and weekends.

  • The work schedule for this position isextremely intermittent. This position will have periods of possibly many months where no work will be performed and conversely, several months where part- and full-time work (and overtime) will be required.
