Job Title: Customer Service Representative

Position Location: Salem, OR

Primary Function

The CSR responds to customer inquiries and problems by providing information or directing requests to others who can supply the necessary information or service. This position is responsible for providing customer service in a courteous and professional manner and promoting and maintaining communication between the Office, Production, Sales, Quality Control, and Shipping and Receiving staff to ensure that detailed customer requirements are met.

Key Deliverables

B usiness

  • Answer customer calls, process orders and arrange transportation for the orders. Maintain orders in the Parity system. Coordinate with Materials Management to ensure timely and accurate fulfillment of orders. Invoice customer shipments daily.

  • Ensure customer pricing is accurate. Utilize company records and systems to maintain pricing and contract matrices.

  • Provide support to the Inside Sales Supervisor. This includes the ability to receive a customer service situation (by phone or email) from the Supervisor and quickly and accurately assess/diagnose and solve a complex or urgent situation.

  • Problem Solving — Seek to proactively identify issues, consider alternative solutions, and take corrective action to resolve problems. Provide support/service to the customer as well as communicating status to all parties involved.

  • Time Management — Prioritize and execute multiple tasks accurately and in a timely manner.

R elationships and People

  • Interact with and support team members. Participate in group problem solving and team activities.

  • Cross-train as directed by the Inside Sales Supervisor; this could include tasks such as setting up contracts and oversight of shipping to remote warehouses.

  • Serve as a liaison between external customers and internal functions to ensure customer satisfaction

Knowledge, Skills, and Requirements:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a Business, Science, or a Supply Chain related discipline preferred.

  • Read and interpret customer related documents, and discern customer expectations and requirements from a variety of sources, both verbal and written.

  • Write routine reports and correspondence in a consistently professional and courteous manner.

  • Communicate by phone or in person with customers and others in a consistently professional and courteous manner.

  • Make independent decisions within the operating procedures at Kerr Concentrates.

  • Mastery of repetitive functions within the job.

  • Meet progressive productivity requirements with consistent accuracy.

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentages.

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
