WorkSource Oregon Support Specialist - LEAP in Salem, Oregon
Status: Non-Exempt - FT 40 hrs Location: Salem Work schedule: Monday - Friday 7am - 3pm Starting wage: 11.00/hr. Reports to: Manager Job#: 17-0120 Overview: Responsible for ensuring that support and assistance to participants in LEAP are completed in accordance with agreements made with the participant and his/her team. These agreements are documented as the participant's Individual Support Plan (ISP). The agreed upon support may include any or all of the following: community access, effective communication skills, additional leisure time activity skills, and valued interaction with other community members. Requirements: - High School graduate or equivalent - Must have experience or motivation to perform essential functions of the job - Preference may be given to individuals with experience supporting people with developmental or other disabilities in employment settings and/or developing leisure time activities, and who are familiar with alternative communication skills for adults - Must be able to initiate and maintain positive relationships with participants, co-workers, supervisors and other staff - Excellent organizational and planning skills - Must be able to communicate clearly verbally and written - Requires frequent flexibility; patience; and use of conflict resolution, reading, writing and basic math skills - Requires the ability to frequently initiate art, crafts, music and other creative activities when providing services - Must have current Oregon Drivers License and acceptable driving record and be able to pass background check Duties: - Maintain on-going knowledge of support needs for LEAP participants - Case load responsibilities include: - Assessment of participant support needs, including preferred learning and communication style - Regular communication with participants in order to understand satisfaction with services and supports provided - Maintain on-going awareness of community options and events that support participants' interests and support - Perform cleaning duties as assigned - Assures work site safety is maintained - If needed, assures medical treatment is pursued and proper documentation and notification is fulfilled Working conditions: This position is paid hourly and may be full or part-time work. Scheduled work hours are subject to change. Compensation is established by Shangri-La. Work occurs in a variety of community-based locations, which fulfill the agreements made in the ISP. The employee may be exposed to a variety of weather conditions and temperatures, noise, dust, unsanitary or infectious substances and chemicals.
