Mennonite Village Resident Assistant - On Call in Albany, Oregon
Mennonite Village is a not-for-profit, equal opportunity employer, CCRC (Continuing Care Retirement Community) facility that provides 24 hours/7 days a week care located in Albany Oregon. We are currently hiring Resident Assistants for our Quail Run Assisted Living Facility which cares for aging persons with varying levels of physical, social and mental capabilities.
Monitors and provides hygiene and general care of resident’s body, skin, nails, hair, eyes, ears, mouth, and face.
Assists with restorative nursing procedures: good body alignment, range-of-motion, transferring, use of gait belt, etc.
Provides emotional support, validation for residents.
Assists residents with dressing, bathing, and grooming as needed with respect to privacy.
Maintains residents’ dignity by providing privacy and confidentiality.
Reports observations and pertinent information to the CMA or Health Services nurse – such as unusual symptoms, changes, accidents, injuries, etc.
Encourages and promotes resident participation in activities of interest; plans and schedules care to allow for attendance of all desired activity programs.
Aids in the transfer of residents to and from activity programs.
Uses safety measures for residents and self by using, proper body mechanics, canes, walkers, wheelchairs, gait belts, etc. as ordered.
Responds to call lights promptly and ensures that call light is available to resident.
Provides accurate documentation reflecting the care provided to the resident.
Documents Condition Changes and unusual occurrences.
Practices standard precautions with every resident. Practices additional precautions per direction of CMA, Team Leader, and/or Health Services nurse.
Cares for residents’ secondary needs such as dental services or the repair and cleaning of hearing aides, glasses, and contacts. Informs CMA if aides require professional repair or adjustment.
Performs general housekeeping tasks (cleaning bathroom, emptying trash, making beds, etc.) as needed.
Attends inservices and staff meetings as required. Keeps current on resident’s needs by reading service plans, 24-hour book, and related memos.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Team Leader or Health Services nurse.
Supportive of the Mennonite Village Philosophy.
Ability to work with and communicate effectively with the elderly.
Capable of lifting 10-100 lbs., with occasional lifting of residents weighing over 100 lbs.
Ability to safely move frequently during work day, including carrying, lifting, standing, sitting, bending, reaching, and kneeling.
Ability to push and/or pull wheelchairs and other equipment.
Visual and auditory acuity within normal limits
Must be flexible and responsive to change on short notice.
Sufficient English and Language skills to follow instruction from staff. Must be able to understand and respond properly to resident’s needs.
Ability to accurately document activities in writing.
