Mennonite Village Summer Groundskeeper Monday-Friday 40 hours per week-Days in Albany, Oregon

Mennonite Village is a well-respected not-for-profit Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) with a 70+ year history. We are currently seeking temporary groundskeepers for summer. Monday-Friday day shift with an occasional weekend for special events. This position will work outside in the areas of lawn care, shrub, planting bed care and hard surface maintenance. $11.93+ DOE


  • Plants and cares for lawns, flowers, shrubs, and trees.

  • Trims trees and bushes under the guidance of a supervisor.

  • Mows, rakes, and edges lawns; edges and sweeps sidewalks, drives and streets.

  • Edges, weeds, and barks planting beds.

  • Assists in the maintenance and repair of sprinkling system.

  • Maintains hard surface areas by using mechanical or hand cleaning equipment.

  • Cleans and maintains all tools used in grounds care.

  • Assists other groundskeepers with work orders and projects.

  • Assists in moving residents and their furniture as needed.

  • Picks-up and disposes residents’ trash and recyclable materials appropriately.

  • Washes exterior vinyl and aluminum siding of village units as required.

  • Works with Groundskeepers II and III as a helper.

  • Operates vehicles in accordance with Federal, State, and local regulations.

  • Utilizes all safety equipment required when using specific equipment, in accordance with OSHA regulations.

  • Performs other duties as requested by supervisor.


  • Supportive of the Mennonite Village philosophy.

  • Working knowledge in the use and care of landscape maintenance equipment.

  • Knowledge of plants, shrubs, flowers, and trees.

  • Must be at least 16 years of age.

  • Must have a valid driver’s license.

  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

  • Ability to learn proper use of grounds maintenance tools and equipment.

  • Ability to see, hear, feel, and smell within normal limits.

  • Ability to perform moderately heavy lifting (80 lbs), prolonged standing, walking, working from ladders, bending, stooping, reaching, and operation of various power equipment.

  • Ability to work with a variety of age groups, but especially elders.

  • Ability to work in all weather conditions.
