Wage: $14.00/hourSchedule: Wed - Thurs, 4PM-2AM, Fri - Sat 8PM-6AMResponsible for performing guard, patrol, investigative and safety duties in assigned areas to protect life and property against theft, misappropriation, fire, flood, or similar disaster, in compliance with government and management directives.

  • Ensure safety and security of staff, students, buildings, and property through patrols, inspections, and investigations.

  • Maintain logs; write incident reports and accident documentation.

  • Conduct searches when required; assure accountability of students; complete student and visitor check-in and check-out procedures.

  • Conduct telephone switchboard and radio dispatch duties at main gate.

  • Provide positive, quality customer service to students and staff.

  • Transport students in rural or urban environments as needed.

  • Assist with development of new safety policies and procedures.

  • Participate in student employability programs and activities.

Job Requirements:High School diploma or equivalent. Have the ability to occasionally lift and carry 50-70 pounds and frequently climb stairs for patrols, investigations, and emergencies. Experience with youth, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and computer proficiency. Valid driver’s license in the state of residence with acceptable driving record. Preferred Qualifications: Two years experience with the U.S. Armed Forces, emergency medical services, security, police, or a fire fighting organization. About Tongue Point:Tongue Point Job Corps Center is operated by MTC for the U.S. Department of Labor. Located at the mouth of the Columbia River, the Center is one of the five largest employers in Clatsop County. Students apply for admission and work at their own pace, guided by academic and career training instructors who are committed to their success. Tongue Point offers students training in 15 vocations: building construction technology, carpentry, cement masonry, computer service technology, culinary, dental assisting, electrical, glazing, medical assisting, office administration, painting, plastering, welding, and seamanship. We are the only Job Corps Center in the nation with a seamanship program; it is the Center's largest vocation with 120 students.Tongue Point Job Corps Center has responded to the COVID-19 pandemic by reducing services on site. As of March 16, all but 25 students have been sent to their home of record to shelter in place, with a planned return date of April 14. Those students on site have been required to stay on campus to prevent the spread of COVID-19, which means we have a collection of essential staff here to provide the students with their daily necessities. Our center provides 24/7 security to protect the students and staff on campus. Staff have increased sanitizing on center and consistently practice 6-foot social distancing. We are trying to limit non-essential visitors to our center and will host initial interviews via phone.Tongue Point Job Corps Center is a drug-free workplace and a tobacco-free campus.
