Nike Advanced Apparel Performance Knit Designer in Beaverton, Oregon

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Textile Science, Fashion, Fashion Textiles, Apparel Design, or Fashion Design. Will also accept a Master’s degree in Textile Science, Fashion, Fashion Textiles, Apparel Design, or Fashion Design. Experience: A Bachelor’s degree and six years of overall progressive experience in a global corporation that works within the apparel industry. Will also accept a Master’s degree and four years of overall progressive experience in a global corporation that works within the apparel industry Skills/Requirements: 3 years of experience: (1) utilizing an understanding of the apparel design and development process from inception through final adoption; (2) creating and presenting executive level presentations; (3) utilizing an understanding of materials, including knowledge of composition, to determine an effective way to create a wide range or product types; (4) patternmaking; (5) Parametric Patternmaking knit software, including Stoll M1 Plus and Shima; (6) generative software for engineered knits, including 3D/ 4D (CLO) and body analysis forms; (7) utilizing knowledge of manufacturing technologies for knit, dying, finishing, testing, trims, and textiles; (8) working within Licensed Global Business Models with third parties; (9) advanced technical materials and industry textiles, including fibers, yarns, knit, textile adhesives, and woven fabrications; and (10) partnering with vendors to develop a textile from inception to actual production.

NIKE, Inc., Beaverton, OR. Will lead, drive and execute innovation and creation across all team sports performance apparel categories in Beaverton, OR. Will create a cohesive aesthetic expression in engineered knit and materials technologies. Will research new technologies and develop materials. Will work with multiple stakeholders from Design, Product, Textiles, Innovation and external partners. Will ensure project concepts align with global and category initiatives, as well as fuel future programs. Will utilize advanced technical knowledge in textile science, apparel design, engineered materials, fit/sizing, patterns and construction to develop for mass production and complex apparel development projects. Will drive innovation materials across categories, lead strategies across diverse teams, and work with vendors to develop ease of manufacturability. Will be responsible for close collaboration with multiple teams to set future concepts and initiatives. Will deliver assignments and inform the team based on technical assessment and project complexity, resource availability and workload capacity. Will collaborate with innovators to identify key technical platforms and define future opportunities to drive innovation and research. Will engage in stakeholder management, manage cross-functional partnerships with manufacturing innovation, lab test, athlete wear test, prototype team and overall developments. Will also drive analysis and textile reviews that result in gender/sport/category textile consolidation. Will create, manage, and implement key innovations, tools and standards. Will collaborate with Design Teams, Product Managers, Operations, Technical Design and Material Development. Will lead special projects that encompass creating solutions to support process and cross-category standardization. Will engage in apparel technical construction and design to ensure performance, comfort, and sustainability. Will analyze all performance testing data and make recommendations on any changes regarding fit, material and aesthetic or manufacturing. Will train and mentor partners and teammates on fit and sizing. Will engage in 20 percent or less domestic and international travel.
