WHAT YOU BRING TO NIKE

  • Bachelor's degree

PREFERRED:

  • Master’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, International Trade, or related field

  • Current US Customs Brokerage license or CCS / CTCS / other Customs certifications & designations

EXPERIENCE

Required:

  • 2-3 years of experience within customs & trade in a medium to large company

PREFERRED:

  • Experience in the customs & international trade industry, including but not limited to: US import/export regulations, policy & procedure development, customs system automation tools, extended first sale, duty exemption, customs audit management, & preferential trade programs

  • Experience working directly with US Customs & other government agencies

The US Customs Specialist (Apparel) will help drive the ongoing development of our best in class customs operations programs, processes, & internal controls in the US. The individual in this role will support facilitation of compliant, reliable, efficient & expedient cross-border movement of goods, acting as a subject matter expert, leveraging innovation to provide value to Nike & every athlete* (*if you have a body, you’re an athlete).

The US Customs Specialist will be working closely in apparel & other classification & origin determination. They will understand & analyze current processes & recommend/define improved future state. We are seeking an individual with strong information seeking skills and high curiosity. They should have the ability to network, influence, & utilize internal & external resources while also carrying strong verbal & written communications skills including reporting, meeting facilitation, & presentations. They will recognize & work to understand challenges or underlying concerns, troubleshoot, & develop effective responses or resolute with recommendations as appropriate.

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Determine, enter, approve, and audit US apparel & non-merchandise tariff classifications to ensure timely entry. Enter & review apparel attributes in Nike Customs Systems in support of apparel classification requirements

  • Educate apparel product development & design engineers & other partners on tariff determination & design for duty

  • Collaborate across internal & external partners to include Nike customs, tech, sourcing, design, and transportation teams as well as US CBP and designated brokers to ensure system rules and business processes are continually configured to ensure compliance

  • Serve as lead apparel classification & duty expert for Nike North America (develop, consult, educate)

  • Program Management
