As Finance Director of Nike’s Advanced Innovation Labs, you will lead finance across Nike’s new business incubator, Nike Valiant Labs (NVL), and the Nike Sports Research Lab (NSRL) and serve as a critical member of Nike’s Advanced Innovation Finance team. In this role you'll act as a CFO with a VC mentality, bringing a wealth of wisdom on how to spot growth opportunities in nascent services/digital businesses that serve consumers.

This unique opportunity requires an adaptable and disruptive-minded individual to provide strategic leadership, insights, and management across Nike’s innovation labs where consumer evidence, data, and science are utilized to develop the next generation of innovative products and services.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Are you a shaper with an investor mindset to partner with our entrepreneurs, innovators, and scientists to create new forward-thinking business models and services that fuel consumer engagement and relationships with Nike? This role helps drive the execution of the innovation process to reinvent the traditional rules that create and deliver value for Nike at scale.

To be successful, you must love a start-up environment, be ready to roll up your sleeves to advise, take an enterprise view and not shy away from hard decisions. You'll need to establish and cultivate positive relationships with internal business partners and maintain a finger on the pulse of external business trends and developments. You’ll also thrive with uncertainty and ambiguity and see it as an opportunity to build new strategies and approaches to deliver innovation to Nike.

WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON

You'll be identifying, testing, and developing new digitally oriented consumer services and business models to drive growth for Nike. You will also engage in early-stage initiatives to establish a portfolio view of opportunities, distilling entrepreneurial storylines into a corporate narrative. This requires you to translate early-stage concepts into impactful opportunities from ideation and testing through to launch. You’ll also work closely with our analytics and research organizations to model and quantify the impact of new services and uncover relevant new insights around prioritized consumer segments.

You'll lead all aspects of investments in a portfolio of diverse businesses and initiatives and explore scenario plans and risk mitigation strategies to optimize portfolio health and returns. You will collaborate with entrepreneurs-in-residences (EIRs) and our Investment Committee to determine appropriate funding at different stages of the businesses’ growth.

You should be a skilled communicator who cultivates relationships with central Nike partners that support the Labs’ investment infrastructure. This includes supporting broader Nike innovation teams and projects. You will partner with the leadership team and our EIRs on near and long-term business strategy.

WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH

You will lead a small and nimble team that provides best in class strategic, analytical, and financial support to business partners, including Nike’s President of Advanced Innovation Labs, our Vice President of the NSRL, the Head of People and Culture, and EIRs – the startup founders leading a portfolio of new businesses. You will also be a part of our Investment Committee, which oversees new businesses and services coming out of our Advanced Innovation Labs.
