WHAT YOU WILL BRING?

  • Bachelor's degree in Apparel Design, Pattern Making, Textile Science or related field

  • Minimum 2 years Apparel Industry Experience

  • Ability to work independently, with mentorship in only the most complex situations

  • Demonstrated skills in problem solving and innovative solutions

  • Ability to write product specs and advanced construction instructions

  • Ability to work with vendors to ensure and improve manufacturability

  • Ability to interpret design intent and offer alternative solutions

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to explain difficult concepts and influence others to adopt a different point of view

  • Ability to manage a high workload and multiple projects

  • Proficiency with MS Office programs

  • Ability to use Adobe Illustrator and CAD Pattern Design software (Optitex/Browzwear/CLO) highly desired

  • Ability to travel 10-20% including International travel

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

The Technical Designer II for Kids is a critical role, coordinating the fit and construction of seasonal styles from initial concept through to commercialization, while adhering to timeline, budget, design, sustainability and performance targets aligned to the strategic direction set by the Kids leadership team. The ideal candidate has 2+ years of experience specifically in the field of Apparel Product Creation including fit, construction, grading, materials, and costing. They are a proficient project manager and problem solver, able to handle highly complex product launches. They are able to influence and champion complex projects both cross functionally and vertically within the organization.

WHAT WILL YOU WORK ON?

In this role, you will obsess about the fit and quality of Kids product, delivering to design intent and budget within the seasonal launch timeline. You will translate 2D sketches into functional, wearable garments, creating and maintaining technical packages for assigned styles, ensuring all appropriate development documentation is kept current of development status. You will track and facilitate prototyping, assessing garment samples for accurate fit and specification standards, solving for potential challenges accordingly to deliver proven and tested product in bulk production. You will lead technical fit sessions with cross functional teams, recommending solutions in real time.

WHO WILL YOU WORK WITH?

You will collaborate closely with the Product, Design, Material, Sourcing and PCC teams, developing seasonal product to commercialization. You will partner with TDs on the Kids track to translate base chassis and blocks into seasonal and trend relevant styles.
