Working with minimal supervision, this position selects and applies standard engineering principles and procedures in the design and development of new product/production process or the modification of existing product/production processes. Makes decisions on engineering problems and methods having an important effect on major company programs and customer’s needs. Supports new product releases by designing and implementing new and/or modifications to tooling, fixtures, and machinery as required. May be assigned to multiple large projects simultaneously.
The essential functions of this position require prioritizing and completing all assigned tasks in a timely and efficient manner, adjusting for changing priorities and availability of resources, and demonstrating initiative in identifying additional job-related tasks to be completed when time permits.
May be assigned responsibility for projects involving budgets up to $250,000 and potential annual sales of up to $7,500,000. May coordinate multiple large projects simultaneously.
Coordinates internal company activities related to projects and directs individuals to execute project activities.
Works with project engineers on technical details for test equipment or data acquisition needs.
Hands-on work on shop floor as job requires.
Accountable for developing and monitoring processes and practices necessary for legal and ethical compliance in assigned area.
Collaborate and/or facilitate with Warn leadership and team members during team meetings, system reviews, safety meetings, and other forms of problem-solving discussions to further define and improve department strategies designed to meet and exceed quality objectives. Participate meaningfully in Warn safety and quality activities as directed or requested.

Approximately 40 hours / week may be required to efficiently perform the job duties of this position, including presence at designated internal and external meetings. This position may also require availability and accessibility to respond to and address emergencies and critical situations outside of normal business operating hours in the early mornings, evenings and/or during weekends. Overtime may be scheduled and required to meet departmental needs.
Required Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Manufacturing or related Engineering discipline required.
Four to eight years of hands-on engineering or product design is required.
Four or more years experience in a high volume, manufacturing environment is preferred.
Professional engineering experience preferred.
Required Qualifications, Skills and Abilities:
Working knowledge of: CAD programs – preferably Siemens NX; Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel; Warn Quality Tools (SPC, GDT, FMEA, DFA/M, etc.) required.
Working knowledge of: FEA (finite element analysis); various rapid prototyping techniques and data acquisition (LabVIEW) preferred.
Strong oral and written communication skills commensurate with the job tasks and position necessary to communicate clearly and effectively with internal and external customers while providing exceptional quality of work and outstanding customer service. Ability to present information in a manner designed to educate or inform other team members and customers in one-on-one or group interactions as directed.
Ability to review, comprehend, interpret, process and evaluate effectively written work instructions, documents and procedures written in English, and ability to read engineering drawings in conjunction with the performance of the essential functions and other assigned job duties. Demonstrable knowledge and experience of measurement methods required.
