MDU Resources Group Mechanic in Coos Bay, Oregon

Job Summary:

The Coast operation seeks an experienced Mechanic to safely perform maintenance and repair of the company's fleet of heavy trucks and construction equipment.

Major Job Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot and diagnose problems to determine method and extent of repair necessary. (drive train, brakes, electrical, hydraulics, suspension components, etc.).

  • Perform welding and operate cut tools, hoist and lifting devices, as needed.

  • Read, interpret, analyze and apply information from technical manuals and schematics.

  • Anticipate needed parts and supplies.

  • Complete repair order paperwork and Zonar logs, as needed

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, MSHA, safety & environmental policy and regulations.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Swing Shift, 3PM-11:30PM with weekends and extended hours when needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Prior heavy truck or equipment mechanic/maintenance or similar experience.

  • Class A or B CDL with good driving record.

  • Basic mathematical competence to be able to effectively troubleshoot and resolve problems.

  • Communicate effectively with internal and external customers.

  • Provide your own basic hand tools, pneumatics and some specialty tools. (we have a tool allowance program to help with the purchase of tools and will replace broken/damaged tools due to reasonable, appropriate use while on the job).

  • Pre-employment, post-offer drug and functional capacities testing required.
