Minimum/Required Qualifications 4 years of professional-level information Technology experience personally maintaining and supporting a networked computing environment. Experience supporting a large group of users, with widely varying needs and abilities in a team environment. Experience using computer lab imaging and deployment software. Minimum one-year hands-on experience administering a Microsoft Active Directory Domain. Experience with Power Shell and or other Windows scripting languages. A commitment to anticipating, understanding and responding actively and sensitively to customer needs. Demonstrated commitment to promote and enhance diversity. Ability to prioritize and delegate work, especially in deadline situations. An appreciation for, and an understanding of, the characteristics of a university environment. An appropriate IT security philosophy for an educational computing environment. Position Duties 40% Networked PC Leadership, Design and Support Anticipate, design, construct and maintain the PC networks that serve the school, faculty, graduate students and staff such that they seamlessly provide access to needed servers, applications, printers, peripherals and network resources. Administer the School's accounts on the central campus Microsoft Exchange Server. Assist with administration of Windows based file and terminal servers. Understand how to manage Mac OS X wired, or wireless computers in an enterprise environment. Help the school become a leader in the use of new virtual desktop technologies (thin clients, virtual applications/desktops). Collaborate with other COE IT computing professionals to provide a reliable computing infrastructure that supports a heterogeneous operating system population. 30% Develop and Manage 'Student IT Career Track' Identify (and anticipate) requirements for approximately 5 Student consultants providing IT services within COE. Identify head (lead) Student Consultant and manage up to 3 graduate students working in graduate assistantships as Head Consultants. Design and periodically refine a 'career track' that will encourage students to advance their skills in the customer service, technical, and management sides of IT services. Coordinate overall scheduling of Student consultants in a help-desk fashion, where walk-up visitation and assistance is encouraged. Ensure accountability among Student consultants. Evaluate Student consultants on a yearly basis.
