Applied Materials Payroll Processing Analyst - (B3) in Corvallis, Oregon

Job Summary:

The Payroll Processing Analyst reports to the Payroll Processing Manager. He/she is the SME for day-to-day payroll operations and the main point of contact for Payroll processing for the Payroll outsourced service provider. He/she will work directly with the other payroll staff and other functional analysts as needed to support the department.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Act as liaison between the Applied and ADP payroll teams with regards to day-to-day processing operations to include production of on and off-cycle payrolls

  • Workday to ADP interface SME - work closely with HR staff to assure complete coordination of efforts and procedures with pay, deduction, and benefits information used for payroll production, tracking and reporting

  • Develop policies and procedures to ensure adherence to internal controls, GAAP, and federal and state regulations

  • Support SOX controls

  • Identify areas of improvement and provide requirements/solutions related to payroll as well as the payroll processing procedures for continuous improvement of the Payroll department’s efficiency and effectiveness

  • Effectively and proactively educate staff, business partners and employees on payroll related policies and procedures

  • Query/report development

Key Competencies:

  • Extensive knowledge of Federal, State and Local tax and payroll regulations in a multi-state organization and Federal and State wage and hour laws (FLSA)

  • Thorough knowledge of the end-to-end Payroll processes and service delivery model

  • Strong analytical abilities, including the ability to identify and communicate trends

  • Proven ability to build/maintain effective professional relationships and partnerships with all levels of the Company and third-party service providers

  • Ability to prioritize, manage time effectively, and adapt to rapidly changing priorities and pressure situations and meet defined timelines

  • Proven competencies, particularly in the area of communications, presentations, multi-jurisdictional payroll, analysis and related decision-making, problem solving

  • Excellent communication skills, time management, organizational, analytical, problem-solving and interpersonal skills

  • Communication skills including ability to communicate with remote work force across the US

  • Strong work ethic focused on producing results and adding value to the team and company

  • Ability to work in a team environment and establishes strong working relationship with peers

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university with a major in accounting or finance or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • 5+ years of experience in payroll function in a complex, multi-state organization to include processing, payroll tax, timekeeping, system implementation, reporting, and general ledger

  • Project management experience preferred

  • Proficient skills with Microsoft Office applications

  • CPP or CPA preferred

  • Payroll system implementation experience preferred

  • Experience with comprehensive outsourced payroll model preferred
