The Department of Political Science offers a broad range of courses organized in six traditional subfields of political science, each with their own designated faculty: comparative politics, formal theory and methodology, international relations, public policy, political theory, and U.S. politics.
Our faculty employ diverse theoretical and methodological approaches but share the pursuit of meaningful answers to big questions with real-world implications. As a Political Science major or minor, students gain an in-depth understanding of how power, politics, and people converge.
The Department of Political Science at the University of Oregon seeks qualified applicants for its open instructor pool. The pool is for part-time, temporary, limited duration teaching appointments not to exceed one year, but with the possibility of renewal for up to a total of three years.
Potential areas of expertise include politics of law and political theory. Courses assignments might include the following:

PS 310 Roots of Democracy
PS 312 Shadows of Modernity
PS 350 Politics & Film
PS 375 Race, Politics, and the Law

A J.D. or Ph.D. in Political Science or related field is required.
