The GS-13 Mental Health Supervisory Social Worker (MHSSW) will serve as a fully qualified supervisory social worker directly supervising the Behavioral Health Interdisciplinary Program (BHIP) Managers in both Roseburg and Eugene, The CBOC Coastal Manager, the Military Sexual Trauma (MST) Coordinator, and all staff on the Suicide Prevention team.

Responsibilities

The incumbent must possess a minimum of 2 years working in Mental Health. The Mental Health Supervisory Social Worker (MHSSW) will have administrative and clinical management over the programs that fall under his or her direct reports and includes more than 40 people on the current Mental Health Organizational Chart from all of the MH disciplines including but not limited to; Social Workers, Psychologists, Psychiatrists, Nurse Practitioners, Peer Support Specialists (PSS), Clinical Pharmacist Specialists (CPS) and Licensed Mental Health Professional Counselors (LMHPC).

The Mental Health Supervisory Social Worker (MHSSW) will work with MH Program Managers and Supervisors throughout the Mental Health Department to ensure that all professional, licensing and discipline specific requirements for Social Workers are maintained. They will work in collaboration with the Roseburg HCS Social Work Chief to ensure that the recruitment, hiring, and the boarding of all Social Workers in Mental Health meet all VHA requirements.

The Mental Health Supervisory Social Worker (MHSSW) performs the administrative and clinical oversight to the BHIP Managers, Coastal CBOC Manager, the MST Coordinator and the Suicide Prevention Team. The incumbent performs the administrative and personnel management function relative to staff supervised, including staff training and orientation to the programs they work in. Incumbent will have established guidelines and performance expectations for staff, clearly communicated through the formal employee performance management system. Observes workers' performance; demonstrates and conducts work performance critiques. Provides informal feedback and periodically evaluates employee performance. Incumbent works to resolves informal complaints and grievances. Develops work improvement plans, recommending personnel actions as necessary. Provides advice and counsel to workers related to work and administrative matters. As the direct supervisor he or she will complete the above staff's Mid-Year Evaluations and Annual Performance Evaluations and Proficiencies. The incumbent effects disciplinary measures as appropriate to the authority delegated in this area. Reviews and approves or disapproves leave requests. Incumbent assures that subordinates are trained and fully comply with the provisions of the safety regulations.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements: * United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. * Master's degree in social work from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). * Licensed or certified by a state to independently practice social work at the master's degree level. Preferred Experience: The incumbent provides a wide range of professional mental health services to address the complex issues (i.e. psychiatric, medical, vocational, educational, and social) faced by veterans seeking services at the Roseburg HCS. These direct services include, but are not limited to: * Individual, Family and or Group psychotherapy interventions which may be provided via Telemental Health. * Evaluation, assessment and treatment planning. * Behavioral interventions. * Facilitation of referrals to Mental Health programs for specialized services. * Completion and management of MH consults. Grade Determinations: Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience at the GS-12 level to qualify.
