Element Materials Technology EMC Test Technician in Hillsboro, Oregon
Overview
Element has an opportunity for a EMC Test Technician to join our rapidly expanding team. As a member of the operations team, the primary function of the EMC Test Technician is conducting evaluations (setup, measure, and document results) on a wide variety of products while interfacing with a wide array of engineers and regulatory agencies.
Responsibilities
Responsible for conducting a variety of tests which encompass setting up and testing, as directed in written and verbal instructions, in accordance with applicable standards, and documenting the testing process and outcome
Understands customer orders and how to properly follow laboratory technical procedures and test specifications
Ensures that tests are performed exactly according to published specifications unless informed otherwise by supervisor or technical department manager
Assembles appropriate tools and test equipment, and follows written specifications necessary for the proper performance of the test
Sets up and performs emissions, immunity, and susceptibility tests as directed in accordance with applicable industry and company standards
Maintains in-depth knowledge of test standards, product test procedures, and instrumentation
Accurately observes and records test progression and results. Organizes and documents data for each assigned project
Interacts with customers during the testing process, periodically assist with troubleshooting and development modifications
Identifies instrumentation in need of calibration and ensures it is not used until properly calibrated
Ensures adherence to all local, state, and federal laws pertaining to safety, environment, and corporate governance
Applies the principals of 5S (Sort, Set In Order, Shine, Standardize, and Sustain) in the performance of daily work responsibilities to ensure a clean, orderly, and safe work area
Abides by and ensures that all duties are performed in accordance with all Safety, Health, and
Environmental (SHE), Trade Compliance, and Quality practices, policies, and regulations
Maintains client confidentiality at all times
Skills / Qualifications
Associates degree in electronics or plus one to two years of electronics testing experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Knowledge of basic principles of electrical and electronic theory
Working knowledge of RF test equipment and familiarity with a wide variety of test equipment (spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, etc.) is desired
Solid working knowledge of personal computers encompassing hardware and software applications (e.g. proficiency in Microsoft Applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Ability to work flexible work hours to accommodate customer and lab testing requirements, including some weekends as needed
Ability to remain calm when faced with mounting pressure related to deadlines and multiple priorities
Well developed verbal and written communication skills to meet a variety of communication needs.
Good interpersonal skills that foster open upward and downward communication built on mutual respect
Experience in interpreting testing procedures and requirements
Ability to interface with peers and clients
Strong attention to detail; accountability
Frequency of required physical force: Minimum
Ability to stand on feet for long periods of time
Possesses the ability to work alone the majority of the work day; only requiring assistance for clarification or confirmation of test procedures
Understands what must be completed each work day and takes the initiative to complete those tasks properly and timely
Ability to take testing projects from initial set up to completion and ready for report writing
Ability to read and understand customer specifications and perform the testing required
May schedule customer visits for test review and customer resolution(s)
Employee will develop a proven ability to set up and perform a variety of tests according to customer specifications under minimal supervision and technical input of a Senior/Principal Test Technician
