Intel Operations Research Engineer in Hillsboro, Oregon

Job Description

Assembly and Test Technology Development (ATTD) Operations Research Engineers design, develop, and apply engineering, mathematical models, simulation and optimization models to drive solutions to complex manufacturing and supply chain problems.

This position is in Intel's Capacity Integration Organization which is a part of ATTD. The scope of work includes Sort Testing, Die Preparation, Wafer Level Assembly and Tooling functions within Intel. Job requirements range from modeling and optimization of specific tools to complex multi-factory supply chain assessments.

Operations Research Engineer is responsible for (but not limited to):

  • Identify and solves highly complex problems in factory performance, loading, equipment performance, decision science and, supply and distribution network problems.

  • Require a thorough understanding of the factory environment and supply chain knowledge to develop complex engineering models and apply them to identify and drive solutions.

  • Build, develop, validate and apply mathematically based decision algorithms, heuristics, optimization and simulation models and tools.

  • Work closely with the business units to identify root causes, define the strategic and tactical needs and drive the appropriate business and technical solutions.

  • Develop solutions to problems utilizing formal technical training, business knowledge and judgment.

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates. Knowledge and/or experience listed below would be obtained through a combination of your school, work and/or classes and/or research and/or relevant previous job and/or internship experiences.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • The candidate must possess Bachelors' degree (with 4+ years of relevant experience) or Master’s degree (with 3+ years of relevant experience) or PhD degree (with 1+ years of relevant experience) in Computer Science or Computer Engineering, or related discipline.

  • Minimum of 6 months of experience with data collection, organization, manipulation, optimization and statistical analysis

  • Willing to work in a clean room environment, wearing coveralls, hoods, booties, safety glasses and gloves

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Operations Research or Industrial Engineering

  • Knowledge of manufacturing operations, flows, equipment, facilities and a solid understanding of the factory capacity/capital systems

  • Familiarity with data optimization tools (SQL, Tableau, Power BI, etc.)

  • Understanding of supply chain management

  • Experience with semiconductor manufacturing
