We encourage you to apply, even if you don't believe you meet every one of the qualifications described below.Position Title:Outdoor School At Home InstructorDepartment:Outdoor SchoolLocation:RemoteSalary:Starts at $15 per hour, DOENW REGIONAL ESD'S MISSION STATEMENT:In partnership with the communities we serve, Northwest Regional ESD improves student learning by providing equitable access to high quality services and support.GENERAL DESCRIPTIONThe Outdoor School @ Home Instructor will work full time and utilize a comprehensive distance learning (CDL) curriculum to bring a virtual Outdoor School experience to life for 5th-7th grade students who are unable to experience traditional Outdoor School due to the COVID-19 pandemic.QUALIFICATIONSHigh school graduate with some college study and/or post-high school work experiencePaid or volunteer experience in Outdoor School, summer camp, day camp or before/after-school programs preferredA passion for science and nature and a desire to share this passion with childrenExhibit enthusiasm, maturity, positivity, compassion, responsibility, flexibility, and initiativeAble to work dependably in a remote work online setting while also contributing to the formation and maintenance of a close-knit staff teamMust have a reliable connection to the internetStrong recommendations from previous work and/or volunteer experiencesHigh level of comfort with web-based technologies and the willingness to quickly and actively learn new platformsStrong commitment to equity and inclusion and supporting the diverse needs of all studentsStrong written and verbal communication skillsExcellent attendance recordStrong Time Management skillsESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSGuide one or more groups of students in daily online science exploration, nature connection, recreation, and art lessons and activitiesFacilitate student engagement in online classroomsTrain and mentor high school volunteers in their teaching and leadership rolesInspire and motivate students to be informed about and involved in their environmentCollaborate with other instructors, supervisor and Curriculum Specialist to refine and improve CDL resources and the overall student experienceAssist with student science kit assembly and distribution (if local to the Portland metro area)Participate in regular online staff meetingsCOMPENSATION$15.00 per hour minimum.
