Intel Server SoC Validation Technical Program Manager in Hillsboro, Oregon

Job Description

Work with Xeon Server CPU validation team who enables future generations of CPUs that power Cloud, Enterprise, and Data Centers. We're part of Silicon development organization within Data Center validation team and we're looking for motivated, passionate, talented Program Managers to join as Server SoC Validation Technical Program Manager role. We're a strong, vibrant cross-site team.

In this leadership role, your job responsibilities would include:

  • To ensure success of a complex project, including but not limited to product and release planning, identification of milestones & project goals, creation of schedules and tracking of all items to ensure successful project delivery

  • Manages project deliverables and project milestones (no people management)

  • As assistance chairperson of Product Development Team (PDT), you will drive execution of Program Plan of Record while managing project requirements, scope, success criteria, schedule, resources, and quality targets

  • Responsible for stakeholder management, including coordination of departmental or cross-functional/cross-organizational teams as well as communication within the organization and external customers

  • Acts as a single program voice

  • Drives closure on issues and gaps through project team stakeholders

  • Maintains focus on continuous improvement while constantly applying best known methods

  • The candidate must be capable of synthesizing, abstracting, and representing complex information into clear, refined messages, and tracking and driving complex issues into detailed PORs

  • You will exercise judgment and discretion to develop solutions, remove obstacles and redefine approaches

  • As part of this process, you will be required to assess risks and identify solutions for efficient achievement of program goals, ensures that quality standards and budget constraints are met, and track appropriate progress against schedule and take remedial action as appropriate

  • The candidates must have advanced understanding of the technical concepts, architecture, systems, development methods, disciplines associated with defined program and utilize knowledge to accelerate program's completion

  • Plans/manages both programs and projects that are directly tied to the development, implementation or upgrade of technology or products for external customers

  • Provides leadership for the project team and key interfaces to the project or program

  • Works on problems/tasks in delivery of a specific product or service

  • Identify tasks, determine dependencies, identify and assign specific resources, communicate expectations to team members, obtain task effort and duration estimates from team members, and create/track the project schedule

  • Assess risk and identify issues

  • Monitor progress against schedule

  • Coordinate resources with other functions

  • Review user and technical requirements for completeness and clarity

  • Requires thorough knowledge of business practices and procedures in order to perform non repetitive, analytical work

  • Provide solutions to a wide range of difficult problems

Ideal candidate should exhibit behavioral traits:

  • Experienced in principles and methods for HW and SW program management. This includes planning skills, horizontal teams progress tracking, risk management, etc.

  • Demonstrated technical foundation that enables effective interaction with the technical stakeholders responsible for SoC requirement definition, technology development, validation, regulatory compliance and productization

  • Broad familiarity with the Server/Workstation/High End Desktop markets with a keen awareness of customer's needs

  • Candidate must have high degree of architecture/ microarchitecture experience in CPU/SoC/Chipset/and one of the subsystems areas

  • Strong knowledge and skills of Intel IA32, ARM, PowerPC or GPU post-silicon validation

  • Good breadth knowledge of functional, electrical, power-performance and security

  • Depth understanding of 1 or 2 technical domains in either functional, electrical or PnP

  • Having done roles like Validation architect or System Debug lead in an SoC program will be a big plus

  • Experience with Project Management tools

  • Excellent written, verbal, presentation communication skills, including engagements with customers and the ability to create concise summaries of plans, status and risk/issue mitigation plans

  • Attention to detail and organizational skills

  • Influence others and to take on new tasks which require learning new technologies and strategies

  • Build and manage effective customer relationships, influencing customer product direction and influencing Intel's plans to meet customers' needs


You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

Minimum Qualifications:

The candidate must have a Bachelor's degree in Hardware Engineering or Electrical/Electronic Engineering or Computer Engineering or Computer Science with 9+ years of experience -OR- a Master's degree in Hardware Engineering or Electrical/Electronic Engineering or Computer Engineering or Computer Science with 6+ years of experience in:

  • Hardware systems development or validation engineering

  • Project lead or program manager

  • Management position (programs or projects)

  • Experience in external customers communication and stakeholder management
