Golder is currently seeking a Geotechnical/GeologicalEngineer for the Portland, Oregon office for an immediate full-time opportunity.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assist in geotechnicalsite characterization tasks, including data compilation and reduction, rockmass classification, and structural analyses.;Undertake geotechnicalfield investigations including logging of soil and rock core data, mapping ofrock slopes, and sample collection and preparation for laboratory testing;

  • Apply rockmechanics principles to surface and underground mine design problemsranging from basic applications to state of the art design;

  • Be a self-starterand be able to take ownership of project tasks using their technicalknowledge;

  • Assist with compilation of data, interpreting results and basicreport writing;

  • Complete other tasks as requested by supervisor or projectmanagers

  • Undertake assignments that may involve travel and periods of timeaway from home office.

  • Bachelors or master’sdegree in Geological, Geotechnical, Civil, or Mining engineering.

  • Solid understanding ofgeologic systems and processes.

  • Basic to intermediate experienceusing Rocscience© software suite.

  • Experience with Computeraided design (CAD) software.

  • Familiarity with 3D minedesign software (e.g., Vulcan, Datamine) and or 3D data visual softwarepackages (e.g., Paraview, Voxler) an asset.

  • Experience withMicrosoft Office software suite (e.g., Word, Excel).

  • Demonstrate criticalanalytical and strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Self-motivated and well organized;

  • Ability to work in ateam environment.

  • Willing and able totravel, both nationally and internationally.
