As a Senior WorkersCompensation Claims Representative you will:

  • Plan, recommend, and executethe investigation and disposition of claims consistent with corporateclaim standards policies and procedures, and statutory, regulatory and ethicsrequirements

  • Manage caseload/claims withinestablished performance standards

  • Establish and maintaineffective relationships with customers, gaining their trust and respect

  • Be responsible forsuccessfully managing worker’s compensation claims

  • Fully engage your exceptionalverbal and numerical critical thinking skills; gather information, applyreasoning and draw appropriate conclusions to make sound decisions

  • Plan recommend, reserve andexecute the investigation, valuation, disposition and settlement of claimsfor the California jurisdiction

  • Achieve fair, equitable andtimely claim dispositions

  • Properly assess the indemnity,medical and expense exposure of assigned claims

  • Set reserves accurately and ina timely manner

  • Accurately resolve coverage andcompensability issues

  • Plan, organize and establishpriorities, determine realistic completion dates.

  • Develop technical andjurisdictional expertise

  • Maintain current knowledge ofclaim loss cost containment initiatives, and use them appropriately andconsistently with company practices and procedures

  • Identify and initiatemitigation, subrogation and other recovery opportunities on assignedclaims

  • Identify fraud indicators andinitiate investigation on assigned claims

  • Apply general mathematicalknowledge and / or financial analysis to achieve results

  • Other duties as assigned

The Sr. Work Comp Claim Representative reports to the

Western Workers’ Compensation Claim Center.

The role can reside in, Rancho Cordova, CA, Scottsdale, AZ or Lake

Oswego, OR. Will consider remote work

for highly qualified candidates who reside within driving distance to one of

the offices in the Western Region.


  • P&C insurance claim handlingexperience required, California Workers’ Compensation claim handlingexperience preferred.

  • Certification exams andadjusting licenses as required by state

Training Requirements:

As a condition of your employment, you must obtain and maintain a State

Adjuster's License to process Property & Casualty Insurance Claims in the

states supported by your office. Continued employment with The Hartford is

contingent upon the successful passage of the Licensing exam(s) within 30

business days from the completion of the licensing training.
