A-dec, Inc. Manufacturing Engineer Technician II in Newberg, Oregon
As the senior level, this position supports manufacturing quality initiatives and is responsible for the first line of defense by recommending and implementing operational improvements for day-to-day product and process problems in production. Assists with new product introductions, performs advanced Lean principles throughout manufacturing, improves efficiency, and enhances quality.
Supports quality initiatives by facilitating quality meetings, investigating quality problems for root cause analysis and corrective action implementation. Processes Product Quality Reports (PQRs) and other documents used to resolve and track quality problems and consults purchasing, customer service or internal suppliers on production and quality issues.
Supports operational initiatives by diagnosing and resolving manufacturing equipment malfunctions and testing anomalies and specifying best tools and equipment, recommends and implements operational improvement ideas (which could include new fixture or tooling design to prevent unsafe working conditions), and improves/enhances quality and efficiency. Also assists Manufacturing supervisors and Manufacturing Engineers with problem solving.
Performs continuous improvement activities by leading or participating in OFI implementation, 6S, and Kaizen Events. At this level, CI activities may involve leading support staff.
Performs new product introduction initiatives by assisting in the development of manufacturing systems, making recommendations regarding manufacturability of product designs and facilities planning.
Generally requires an Associate’s degree with 2 years of formal technical training or approximately 5 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of related coursework and experience.Requires a high mechanical aptitude and must be able to read, write, and communicate in English with a demonstrated ability to provide clear written and verbal instructions.
Demonstrates good organizational skills with the ability to manage time and resources effectively, which includes the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Ability to solve complex technical problems in order to determine root cause and implement corrective action while remaining open to others’ ideas and new approaches.
Must have advanced mechanical drawing or 3D modeling skills along with standard computer application skills, as well as the ability to interpret current manufacturing and engineering procedures and systems, such as ECA, PCA/PCR, MOPs, PPSs, SWAD’s, Engineering drawings, method sheets, etc.
Ability to effectively lead meetings and perform as the designated leader for small technical projects and/or lean events.
Proficient with common hand tools with the ability to perform part fabrication using standard machine shop equipment.
