Maintenance Technician Lead
We are currently recruiting for the Maintenance Technician Lead to join the Benchmade Knife Company team. The Maintenance Technician Lead is critical to the success of manufacturing. This position is responsible for representing the maintenance team in daily reporting, updating, prioritization and execution of production needs. The Maintenance Technician Lead is required to bring the team together twice daily to ensure effective shift-to-shift communication occurs. This individual will work directly with the Maintenance Manager to identify improvement opportunities within the maintenance team and system infrastructure that increases the level of support for our internal customers. Additionally, this role is required to maintain relationships with maintenance suppliers and cross functional teams within the business and be the point of contact for appointments and component orders based on scheduled work within the team.
Act as point of contact for daily maintenance tasks and requests; schedule production maintenance services for the manufacturing equipment as needed.
Prioritize and work alongside production maintenance team to complete required maintenance tasks for internal customers.
Ensure standards are followed. Provide training to new and existing employees on respective shift.
Ensure all safety processes & procedures are followed as outlined in Benchmade safety policy.
Support implementation of new equipment, procedures and processes for continuous improvement.
Develop and document thorough Preventative Maintenance plans for existing and new equipment in manufacturing.
Effectively complete a wide variety of duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and modify electro-mechanical equipment and repair duties as related to the manufacturing equipment.
Follow blueprints, drawings, and general instruction to plan and layout assignments.
Provide solutions and reports to management regarding next steps of critical asset failure.
Provide advanced responsive maintenance support to Manufacturing to maintain production equipment to minimize equipment down-time.
Trouble shoots and repairs equipment in timely manner to return equipment to full production capability.
Work with management to align daily efforts to KPI’s set for Production Maintenance.
Process the necessary paperwork involved in daily work such as preventative maintenance work orders, purchase requisitions and other documents specific to work area.
Dismantle defective machines and equipment and install new or repaired parts, following manufactures specifications and blueprints, using precision measuring instruments and hand tools.
Assemble, install and program mechanical, electro-mechanical and automated equipment and systems.
Develop and maintain relationships between Maintenance related suppliers
Identify and ensure appropriate disposal of all waste streams to meet requirements of applicable city, state and Federal regulations.
Some college coursework completed, and 5-6 years of experience working in a manufacturing maintenance environment is required. Equivalency to the qualification standard will also be considered.
Experience working on industrial CNC equipment
Strong communication and negotiation skills.

Quality computer skills required (MS Suite)
Must be able to diagnose and lead the repair of mechanical systems including but not limited to changing ball screws, drives and drive motors, clutches and spindle bearings.
Advanced knowledge and capable in troubleshooting and replacement of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulics systems with ability to take voltage, amperage, OHM, pressure and/or flow reading in accordance with ladder and schematic diagrams and determine values.
Tasks will include installing equipment according to layout plans, blueprints, and other drawings
Ability to read and make changes to machine code to support manufacturing requirements
Electrical/electronic knowledge/skill include but not limited to controls, magnetic starters, rotary switches, relays, solenoids, brakes, input/output devices for PLC’s, CNC and standard electrical wiring principles for AC (up to 480v. three phase) and DC systems
Advanced knowledge Preventive and Predictive Maintenance practices to drive continuous improvement
Ability to be certified to operate forklifts, scissors lift, overhead cranes and hoists to assist in material and personnel movement required.
Work independently or in a team environment and possess a high level of self-motivation and initiative.
Must have in depth working knowledge and awareness to comply with all standard OSHA and State safety regulations and policies, RE: Lock Out Tag procedures for all types of equipment, proper handling of solvents and chemicals according to SDS sheets, vision, hearing and respiratory protection, and proper lifting techniques as may be required within the scope of the job
Able to work a flexible schedule as needed to support a growing manufacturing infrastructure.
Able to lift 50 lbs.
