  1. Perform general patient care by following established standards and procedures.

  2. Greet and prepare patients for the health care provider.

  3. Obtain and record vital signs including but not limited to, blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration, height, weight, drug allergies, and current medications and presenting problem.

  4. May be required to draw and collect blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis.

  5. Administer ordered medications and/or vaccines via oral, injection, topically, rectal, ophthalmic, and/or inhalant administration.

  6. May perform routine tests including but not limited to EKG’s.

  7. Schedule patients for diagnostic testing and follows up to ensure completion of testing.

  8. Communicate with patient regarding test results and plan of care by phone or mail as directed by physician.

  9. Prepare, clean and sterilize instruments and maintain equipment; keep patient exam rooms stocked, clean and orderly; dispose of contaminated items according to protocol.

  10. Document patient plan(s) of care, tests and examination results in the medical record as directed by the provider.

  11. Escalate non-routine issues, questions and/or concerns to the practice manager or healthcare provider(s).

  12. Ensure safety checklists/quality controls are completed as required.

  13. Provide for patient safety and protection of patient privacy rights.

  14. Perform other duties as assigned by practice manager, MA Lead or as requested by healthcare provider(s).

  15. Other duties as assigned by management.


Required Education: High School Diploma or equivalent

Required Licensure and Certifications: Current/valid Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification.Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Care Life Support (ACLS)

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business, periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to common inquiries or complaints from group managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common factors, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables and situations where only limited standardized exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Must be proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite, Internet navigation, database management, desktop publishing, spreadsheet, and graphic presentation packages

PREFERRED Qualifications: 2 years Medical Assistant experience
