WorkSource Oregon 21-010 Product Engineer II in PORTLAND, Oregon

GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY: Works under limited supervision. Develop and design a product/product family. Ensures production procedures/processes efficiently utilize materials and personnel. Tests finished product for quality purposes and recommends changes to product specifications as necessary. . Interface with internal and external customers to determine and to apply technical solutions. Acts as technical expert for internal and external customers. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES: Review blueprints to determine manufacturability. Review blueprints, plans and other customer documentation to develop and prepare cost effective manufacturing process. Provide technical services to customers regarding manufacturability of proposed new designs. Solicit technical advice as required from resources within the company to assist in determining a manufacturable process. Design and perform engineering studies, test and experiments for products/processes. Assist in the document control flow of the ACR/EWO procedures. Lead development and production teams from a technical and cost basis. Research, design and build equipment for manufacturing related processes. Apply mechanical theory, mechanical testing procedures and related knowledge to layout, build, test, troubleshoot, repair and modify developmental and production equipment. Maintain awareness and control of project cost, quality, scope, and schedule to ensure on-time delivery of the project within budget. Prepare cost estimates for proposed projects and evaluate cost factors. SECONDARY FUNCTIONS: Perform other duties as assigned. JOB SPECIFIC SKILLS: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram or schedule form. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization in partnership with more senior engineering staff. Ability to use Solidworks, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Requires a B.S. degree in Engineering or equivalent. 2-4 years of experience in engineering or technician experience in similar capacity. Good understanding and wide application of technical principles, theories and concepts in the field. General knowledge of other related disciplines.
