The Area Coordinator (AC) is a professional staff position that serves as live-in, primary manager for multiple on-campus residence halls in support of the college's academic mission. The AC provides support, programming, information, and referrals to the Reed student community. The AC is responsible for hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating up to 15 House Advisers; maintaining a high visibility presence in the residence halls and across campus, including regular office hours; and assisting and supervising student staff in the development, implementation, and evaluation of residence hall curriculum. They also advise students on matters related to Residence Life, which includes mediating conflicts and making referrals to appropriate campus resources for specialized assistance; and follow-up on resident concerns. ACs at Reed are encouraged to use creativity, critical thinking, good judgment, professionalism, and a commitment to student development in order to support relationships and activities in a community governed by Reed's Honor Principle.
