Kaiser Permanente BI Report Developer Analyst in Portland, Oregon

Responsible for driving strategic metric-driven decisions by providing insights, identifying trends and opportunities by analyzing, manipulating, tracking, internally managing and reporting data in an established systematic fashion and supporting operational requirements. The position takes an active role in executing approaches leading to actionable outcomes develops, implements, and automates business and reporting solutions, supports operational analysis and interpretation, and supports and develops analytical and/or statistical models enabling informed business decisions.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Analyzes information from a variety of sources, to analyze the importance or irrelevance of content, and to identify key findings. This includes the capacity to draw ties between seemingly unrelated topics or sources of information.

  • Designs and generates tracking and monitoring tools.

  • Translates business needs, issues, and ideas into effective strategies and action plans and technical output.

  • Demonstrates expertise in interpreting data, identifying trends, establishing/utilizing benchmark metrics, and presenting information in clear, concise, and useful formats, including data visualization and interpretation of information.

  • Designs research plans for data gathering and analysis; participates significantly in interpreting analyses and developing action plans accordingly.

  • Interprets operational analysis by applying findings and developing insights, reports and presentations telling a compelling story to stakeholders to enable and influence decision making.

  • Develops statistical models enabling informed business decisions by determining requirements, creating models leading to actionable insights; and testing, refining, and validating models.

  • Gathers data and information to develop and support the design of survey and data collection tools, execution of data collection, processing and simple to moderate analysis, and interpretation of results, to describe or solve problematic issues.

  • Maintains complex statistical routines using macros, vendor software, and software written by self and others. Tests and maintains data integrity.

  • Drives strategic metric-driven decisions by consulting with clients to identify and clarify key business needs by translating business requirements, developing plans and measuring the impact of business decisions on clients.

Leads projects or have accountability for ongoing activities or objectives and communicates results/recommendations to project sponsors, clients and various senior level audiences.

Basic Qualifications:

Experience

  • Minimum five (5) years experience in a quantitative discipline or a directly related field.

  • Minimum one (1) year experience in a leadership role with or without direct reports.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Social/Physical/Life Science, Management Science, Business, Economics or related field, OR four (4) years of experience in a directly related field required.

  • High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED) required.

License, Certification, Registration

  • N/A

Additional Requirements:

  • Experience using full SQL capabilities and comprehension of efficient SQL data warehouse access.

  • Demonstrated experience in the analysis and interpretation of data.

  • Advanced knowledge and experience with different platforms, healthcare systems and analytical tools.

  • Ability to consult with clients in the interpretation and application of information, including the ability to understand potential conflicts between business constraints and customer concerns.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to execute moderately complex analytic projects for a broad array of health care issues, across disciplines and functional areas.

  • Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a matrixed organization.

  • Experience delivering presentations to management.

  • Experience in transition or change management implementation.

  • Health care experience.

  • Experience in SAS, artificial intelligence tools, business intelligence and visualization tools.

  • Complex event modeling experience.

  • Experience with quality management and data profiling tools.

  • Experience with Open Source Tools (e.g, R, Python)

  • Accredited Project Management Certification.

  • Accredited Process Improvement Certification.

  • Master's Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Social/Physical/Life Science, Management Science, Business, Economics or related field.

  • BI development experience with Tableau and/or Cognos

  • Background in Healthcare data

  • Experience with SQL/SAS preferred.
