Here at Columbia, we have a need for a Data Architect who will see data at all levels and coordinate the needs of the business and how those needs are fulfilled. This is a role for someone who knows operational and enterprise data reporting. We have grown from one small data team to five teams, and as the company grows, so will these teams. So we need someone with deep data experience to deal with all the domains across the company. Someone who will thrive in an unusual depth and breadth of exposure to all parts of Columbia . Columbia Sportswear has recently migrated its enterprise data warehouse (EDW) to the Azure cloud data management stack. We are looking for a data architect to take us to the next level of our data warehouse and analytics initiatives. We are looking for an individual with clear understanding and significant experience in data modeling and semantic modeling methodologies, who maintains cohesiveness between the two, and who strives to implement them in his/her design approach.
Lead Data warehouse Dimensional Modeling efforts including defining the Data Model Design and Naming standards from the Database to the BI Layer to ensure consistency
Evaluation, adoption roadmap of new data warehouse and reporting technologies
Works closely with delivery teams including business SME’s to deliver data warehousing solutions that are reliable, flexible, scalable, and provide low cost ownership.
Participate in the design, development, documentation and application of best practices and procedures that govern EDW implementations.
Provide technical mentoring, guidance, and training to EDW support and user teams throughout the organization.
Stay informed of current technologies and best practices.
10+ years of experience in Analytics and Data Warehousing: Data modeling, database design and semantic/BI modeling.
Hands on experience in Data Warehouse technical development with strong understanding of data management life-cycle in establishing end-to-end data warehousing and business intelligence architecture.
Comprehensive knowledge of relational and dimensional data modeling practices and implementation techniques and where they are best utilized.
Experience with one of the Leading Business Intelligence Tools
Experience in cloud data warehousing preferred
Experience with a data modeling tool
Practical experience in a publicly traded multinational supply chain or manufacturing business with Sales & Distribution, Procurement, and Inventory Management scenarios. Retail/Distribution experience preferred.
A technical mindset and strong business acumen
Ability to work independently by taking proactive approach and ownership.
Strong desire to establish best practices while promoting collaboration.
Strong collaboration, influencing, and relationship building skills
Experience in an Agile environment.
Familiarity with CI/CD processes
