Aerotek Electromechanical Technician in Portland, Oregon

Aerotek is actively seeking qualified applicants for a variety of Technician openings with an automotive client in the Portland Metro area. There are a number of openings, all supporting slightly different projects and focuses, but usually involved in electric vehicle and autonomous technology programs.

All roles need some blend of electrical/electronic and mechanical aptitude, and have a preference for automotive background and/or passion. Here are a breakdown of the roles:

  1. Entry level Technician with electrical and mechanical blended skills. High preference for candidate to come out of an automotive training program (Associates or otherwise), and a personal car hobby, with high enthusiasm for learning and growing in the industry.

  2. Mid to senior level Technician (3-10 years+) with electrical and mechanical blended skills. Will be supporting autonomous driving technology through testing and validation duties.

  3. Mid to senior level Technician (3-10 years+) with electrical and mechanical blended skills - (electronic testing and light fabrication shop skills). Supporting electric vehicle builds.


(#2) In this position, you will be part of the team of vehicle experts that rebuild, and build vehicles for autonomous use. You will be handling state of the art mechatronics equipment and build up highly complex machines. In order to be successful you will be able to align and perform within a team that is working on the best possible assembly solution considering electronics, wiring, and mechanics. Also, you will support Engineers with test equipment and custom build ups, troubleshooting, issue tracking and documentation.

(#3) The main function of the Electric Vehicle technician is to lay out, build, test, troubleshoot, repair, and modify developmental and production electronic components, parts, equipment, and systems, such as computer equipment, applying principles and theories of electronics, engineering mathematics, electronic and electrical testing. A typical electronics technician has the ability to make engineering drawings, and read and interpret blueprints. They will be assigned to assemble a vehicle, start from frame rails. They may be bolting on a lot of brackets, or wiring, or working with engineers to problem solve. By the end of every day, they should be able to see advancement. Will be working onsite, in the shop with the team.


  • Ranging from 0-10+ years (3+ for most roles) experience as electrical/mechanical blended technician; if limited experience, should have Associates or Certificate in Automotive, Mechanical, or Electrical Technology

  • Strong preference for automotive technician experience, but could also come from other complex electromechanical fabrication/production/testing/validation environments and industries (aerospace, semiconductor equipment, electronics, etc)

  • Hands-on mechanical aptitude, using a variety of hand tools, fabrication/welding tools, and understanding mechanical concepts used in the automotive industry

  • General electrical/electronic knowledge and hands-on abilities to use a variety of testing tools

  • Understanding of vehicle systems highly preferred (automotive hobbies and enthusiasm extremely helpful, such as working on personal vehicles in a shop, etc)
