The PICU is a regional referral center for all critically ill and injured children that operates 24/7. The primary purpose of the PICU is to provide optimal state of the art critical care nursing to any infant, child or adolescent who presents with a serious injury and/or illness. Care is provided for patients from birth to 18 years of age. Older patients are cared for on a case-by-case basis.
The Intensive Care Unit technician (ICU Tech) position is part of the healthcare team in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. The ICU tech performs tasks of direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and as directed by the department nurse manager. The ICU tech will provide assistance in the maintenance of supplies pertaining to the ICU, and will assist with quality assurance activities for the ICU. This individual has the ability to communicate data reflective of the patients’ status and delegated tasks to the RN or LIP in charge of patient care. The ICU tech assists the patient, patients’ families, visitors, nursing staff, and other support staff to assure the delivery of quality care in a safe and comfortable environment. ICU Techs contribute to the success of the department and support of team members.
High school diploma or equivalent.
One year recent experience (within the past 5 years) providing patient care in an ICU or similar setting.
12-lead EKG placement though EKG dept. CBG QC compliance through POC dept. Rehab training through OHSU PT dept. Within 6 months of hire.
BLS/CPR issued by the American Heart Association upon hire.
Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation.
