We are currently seeking an Internal Accountant to join our Portland office. This role offers the opportunity for a broad range of administrative responsibilities that require outstanding customer service skills, strong attention to detail and the chance to support a dedicated and fun group of professionals. If you possess these skills, we’re looking for you! The ideal candidate must have strong technical skills, strong communication skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. General duties will include billing process facilitation, reporting, and assistance with month-end and other various finance-related tasks for the Oregon region. You must have strong Excel skills, be highly organized, detail oriented, and have a demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritize workload.


  • Billings

o Coordinates monthly billing, updates and issues billing worksheets and prepares summary files

o Assists Shared Services in the invoicing of clients and processing invoices through the system (help with questions, solving issues, reminders to client owners, etc.)

o Follows up with Partners and Senior Managers on submission of billings within deadlines

o Provides supporting data to Partners and Senior Managers to help facilitate billing and summarize billing results

o Researches and resolves problems with billings/invoices

o Provides billing process training and assistance to administrative assistants

  • Reporting

o Creates and issues weekly charge-hour reports to all staff throughout the region

o Runs and distributes aging reports semi-monthly and fields resulting inquiries and requests

o Prepares and delivers monthly management reports to Regional Managing Partners, Partners In Charge, and department leaders

o Runs reports from CRM system to evaluate discrepancies and administers follow-up communication to resolve issues

o Generates various ad hoc reports in response to specific informational requests

  • Finance

o Prepares account reconciliations and processes corresponding journal entries

o Performs accounts receivable functions, including: researching payment discrepancies, processing credit card payments, clearing unallocated credits, and facilitating mailing of monthly statements

o Collects and tracks overnight travel reports and submits to payroll

o Assists with month-end close process and provides back-up support for expense report review and time entry follow up

  • Other

o Facilitates new client tracking and prepares monthly quality control memo

o Provides Shared Services periodic updates of information in Elite

o Gains proficiency in Moss Adams reporting tools and Elite

o Provides general support to the finance team within the region

o Analyzes processes and recommends solutions for greater efficiency and effectiveness

o Various special projects as assigned


  • Associate’s degree or equivalent experience required; Bachelor's degree preferred

  • Minimum of 1 year of related experience required

  • Experience in a professional services environment preferred

  • Solid general accounting knowledge and ability to read and analyze basic financial statements

  • Working knowledge of accounts payable and receivable practices and understanding of dual entry accounting

  • Ability to accurately calculate and verify financial figures and amounts

  • Ability to read, analyze, interpret and/or report large amounts of data in multiple formats

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to quickly establish rapport and build relationships with internal and external clients

  • Strong organizational skills, able to multi-task, prioritize workload and consistently meet deadlines

  • Ability to plan and execute work efficiently and to contribute to process improvement initiatives

  • Comfortable working in ambiguity and where limited standardization exists

  • Strong analytical skills and demonstrated ability to independently problem solve but escalate appropriately

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; able to effectively communicate and negotiate with team members at all levels

  • Able to manage confidential material and sensitive situations

  • Aptitude for learning new systems; previous experience with accounting software and/or databases strongly preferred

  • Intermediate user of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
