Oregon Health & Science University Laboratory Assistant in Portland, Oregon
The OHSU Dermatology Research Division merges basic, clinical and translational research in epithelial cell cancers and dermatologic diseases.
Our basic and clinician-scientists are committed to innovative research on cancer and inflammation of skin with an impact on understanding causes and improving future treatment of muco-cutaneous diseases and providing more effective patient care. The Liu lab employs molecular (PCR, RNA & DNA preps, qRT-PCR), biochemical, and cellular biologic techniques and cultures primary tumor tissues to study cancer and inflammatory skin disease.
This temporary position will provide low-level research support to the Liu lab (10 hours/week) and general lab housekeeping support to the Research Division labs (8 hours/week). Responsibilities include:
Assists with standardized, routine procedures and/or tests, data collection and analysis, and the preparation of work reports
Performs lab housekeeping duties, including preparation of media, buffers, plasmids and stock solutions, and dishwashing
Autoclaves materials
Assists with the maintenance and organization of lab supplies and reagents
Other duties as assigned
This is a temporary position with a work schedule of approximately 18 hours per week from February to August, 2021. The location will be primarily in the Dermatology laboratories in CHH1, 14th floor.
3 years of relevant experience (paid and/or unpaid work at any level)
Competent math skills
Experience with MS Excel
