Weyerhaeuser N.W. Regional Procurement & Capital Lead in Portland, Oregon
Position Location: West Oregon, North West Oregon, South West Washington Reports to: Procurement Director
You are a forward thinking, strategic procurement leader who has a passion for people development, MRO, and capital project procurement. You will play a critical role in partnering with our Wood Products business with capital projects and initiatives by executing the best procurement strategy. You are a leader who can influence indirect teams and other stakeholders to maximize procurement performance.
In this role, your primary responsibility will be to execute our MRO procurement strategy and lead your region’s performance. You will do this by aligning the region’s procurement to Wood Products (WP) Procurement’s directives, along with WP’s drive to Operational Excellence and Reliability improvements. To be successful in this role, you will build relationships with key stakeholders, communicate and partner with all levels of the organization. You will need to be involved and understand our current and upcoming capital projects along with our overall capital strategy. You will need to be in front of changes in our industry that impact our operational costs, customers, and products.
Primary Responsibilities: * Proven ability to negotiate and manage capital for major procurement activities and proven ability to manage complex, multi-year supply/service/outsourcing contracts involving millions of dollars of spend in a specific category of expertise. * Working knowledge of Northwest region roadmap(s) * Lead cost reduction efforts of business and various sites * Maximize region’s utilization of national contracts, proper processes, and procurement initiatives * Support region’s hiring process of buyers and material managers * Assist buyers with vendor management, including conflict resolution * Provide support as technical procurement resource as required * Lead Procure to Pay processes (includes training, ERP guidance, and problem solving) * Has in depth understanding and application of contract laws and purchasing ethics * Work with legal and procurement leadership team to improve contract templates and contract management tools/standards * Lead, support, and develop the region’s Procurement Team:
Includes safety coaching and processes for team members and contractors Employee career development and succession planning 5 mill buyers supporting material managers and 7 manufacturing locations (not direct reports)
Required: * Bachelor’s Degree or professional procurement accreditation (CPM or equivalent) * 8 years MRO procurement experience in heavy industry, includes developing sourcing strategies * Experience in conflict management and resolution. * 5 years’ experience working in, or leading a decentralized team * Experience in a manufacturing setting * Strong communications and analytical skills * Strong negotiation and contract writing skills * Strong experience in capital procurement * Ability to relate to and communicate with senior leaders as well as hourly associates * Working knowledge of SAP * Strong experience in utilizing Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Power Point, etc.) Preferred: * Master’s Degree or above * Professional procurement accreditation (CPM or equivalent) * Intermediate knowledge of investment recovery * Intermediate knowledge of material management * Experience in wood products industry * Strong focus on safety, including contractor safety
