Functions/Duties of Position

This PAS position is responsible for providing administrative support for Clinical Transplant Services. Duties include answering a multi-line phone system, triaging calls to appropriate organ group, scanning patient charts and forms, sorting, triaging, and sending faxes, patient result distribution, occasional lab entry, and making patient reminder calls in an office setting. This position requires significant attention to detail, accuracy, and timeliness as many of the job functions are to support clinical staff. This position provides broad clerical and communications support for Clinical Transplant Services Staff and is vital for the efficient operation of a complex work unit.

Job Requirements

*REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: *

  • Six months of work experience in a medical office setting, including high volume direct patient contact; OR
  • One year of work experience in a high volume direct public contact position
  • Basic computer keyboarding skills including typing of 30 - 45 wpm.
  • Note: Successful completion of a formal OHSU Administrative Internship Program will substitute for one year of experience. Contact Compensation for confirmation of eligibility
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology
  • Previous experience with multi-line phone system
  • Extremely high level of attention to detail
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Epic Experience or similar electronic system
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication, listening skills and awareness of self
  • Demonstrated record of reliable attendance with past and present employers
  • Ability to work autonomously, with a high level of accuracy, speed and exhibit a willingness to work with deadlines
  • Demonstrated efficiency, problem solving and negotiation skills in resolving patient concerns
  • Ability to work general business office hours: Monday through Friday, 8 AM - 5 PM
  • Occasional need to come in early or stay late to accommodate patient or physician needs
  • Occasional holiday and weekend work as required for regulatory purposes
  • Ability to work in a shared office space with multiple disturbances and noise distractions
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Transplant Experience
  • Two years work experience in a high demand healthcare setting
  • Advanced computer keyboarding skills and MS Office knowledge
