Providence is calling a Perfusionist - Surgical Services Cardiac (1.0 FTE, Rotating/Variable) to Providence Saint Vincent Medical Center in Portland, OR
We are seeking a Perfusionist - Surgical Services Cardiac that will be responsible for preparation, operation and maintenance of heart-lung and other ancillary equipment related to monitoring and supporting cardiovascular function in patients during surgery or in CCU or CVL. This position includes preparation, operation and maintenance of autologous blood processing equipment used in surgical procedures. Record keeping is included as a major responsibility. Perfusionists support patient needs in the Portland Service Area; and as necessary in outlying areas as required.
In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
Patient care related activities including but not limited to the preparation, operation, and maintenance of heart-lung machines and other equipment needed for circulatory monitoring and long term cardiopulmonary assist based on patient adult size, weight and condition.
Equipment maintenance including routine cleaning, preventive maintenance, and quality control checks; and inventory control
Assure availability of functional, equipment and supplies to meet current needs. Identifies faulty or unavailable equipment to the team in a timely manner
Department support activities including returning equipment to the department, acting as resource person
Effective communication is maintained with other perfusionists; with staff in patient care areas and hospital department; and with physicians
Promote effective problem solving when intra and interdepartmental issues arise
Manage information related to circulatory support services
Maintain accurate data entry and ability to utilize computer systems
Provide current records and reports as requested
Comply with all hospital, departmental, and regulatory policies and procedures
Support documentation for charging requirements, surveys, clinical trials, audits, and cost containment initiatives
Train and orient new personnel.
Provide call coverage
The requirement to perform services on Neonate and Pediatric patients will be determined for each individual by the department Manager/Chief Perfusionist per the needs of the facility and or service
May transport patients to and from departments utilizing proper techniques of body mechanics to protect patients and personal safety
Required qualifications for this position includes:
Graduate of school of Perfusion
Certification by American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion must be maintained; or must be able to obtain the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion certification within one (1) year of hire
Basic Cardiovascular Life Support (BCLS)
Current Oregon Driver's license
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
One (1) year experience as Perfusionist
