Providence Health & Services Regional Histology Supervisor in Portland, Oregon
Providence is calling a Regional Histology Supervisor to Providence Office Park in Portland, OR.
In this position, you will:
Be part of Providence Health and Services, Portland Service Area Laboratories which is dedicated to customer satisfaction by providing high quality diagnostic information to care givers that is: accurate, timely, compliant, affordable, continuously improved and consistent with the core values of Providence Health and Services.
Provide complete oversight of the Oregon Regional Histology Department.
Ensure the accurate and timely delivery of prepared tissues, slides, and stains to staff pathologists in support of the Oregon Regional Pathology Department’s service commitments to clients both internal and external to Providence Health and Services.
Ensure that technical services are performed in a highly cost effective manner while maintaining appropriate licensures and conditions as required by Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amdendments (CLIA), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), College of American Pathologists (CAP), the Quality Plan, and the Laboratory Compliance Program.
Act as a subject matter expert, oversee the planning, development, testing, and implementation of new technologies and adopts industry accepted best practices.
Emphasize caregiver growth and development while modeling standards of behavior consistent with the mission and core values of Providence Health and Services.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Certified Histotechnician (HT) by American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP)
5 years of progressive histopathology department experience with expanded operational knowledge in test development, including, but not limited to, special staining, immunohistochemistry (IHC), and fluorescent in-situ hybridization (FISH)
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor of Arts (BA) or Bachelor of Sciences (BS)
Certified Histotechnologist (HTL) by ASCP
Experience from an equivalent high volume histopathology laboratory performing equivalent complexity of testing
Supervisory experience of a large staff (10 ) on multiple shifts
