Work Unit Description

Unique opportunity for RN’s to provide IV Therapy to patients in their home environment. You will work as part of a team with a pharmacist and physician to develop therapy plans for individuals requiring home infusion. Self-scheduling is available, with either 8 or 10 hour shifts available within the core hours of 8:30 – 9:30pm; with the highest work volume between 3-7pm.

Functions/Duties of Position

The OHSU registered nurse (RN) provides compassionate, evidence-based, and efficient care to individuals, families, communities and patient populations. The RN’s care delivery is consistent with the Oregon Nurse Practice Act, the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, and the ANA Code of Ethics and meets the standards/expectations of a Professional Practice Model. In that model, the RN demonstrates the professional role obligations of scientist, leader, practitioner, and knowledge transferor. Professional accountability enriches the RN’s engagement as a leader in promoting an inter-professional culture of collaborative decision-making, innovation, life-long learning, and teamwork.

You will provide comprehensive care to home infusion patients in an outpatient setting, including administering antibiotics, immunologics, TPN, chemotherapy, and supportive care. Your role will include traveling to the patient’s home and providing infusion therapy. You will coordinate the patient’s care and ensure the patient and family are receiving OHSU’s highest quality of nursing care.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • External applicants:BSN Degree from an accredited program
  • Internal applicants: Associate's Degree in Nursing
  • Communication skills including fluency in oral and written English
  • Basic computer skills including the ability to send/receive email, navigate information technology associated with the position, and use Electronic Health Record information and tools
  • Minimum one year of nursing experience in Home Infusion, Ambulatory Infusion Center, or Home Health
  • Current unencumbered Oregon RN and WA licenses (WA within 30 days of hire).
  • Current BLS certification
  • Valid drivers license

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current OHSU employees: BSN preferred
  • CRNI
  • INS Membership
  • ACLS certification

ORIENTATION:

  • Specialty Experience: 2-4 weeks
