Providence Health & Services RN - Infection Preventionist in Portland, Oregon
Providence is calling a Registered Nurse - Infection Preventionist (1.0 FTE, Days) to Providence St. Vincent Medical Center in Portland, OR.
This is a full-time position working Monday - Friday from 8am to 5pm.
In this position, you will:
Be accountable for the implementation of and compliance with policies, practices and processes of Oregon Region Infection Prevention (IP) Program at a ministry level
Work in collaboration with the IP program director, IP medical director, and IP peers following all current Federal, State, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations.
Provide professional, independent infection prevention care.
Provide leadership and vision that supports collaborative planning and quality improvement in patient/employee safety while minimizing costs.
Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of Centers for Medicare/Medicaid (CMS), The Joint Commission (TJC), and State/Federal laws which affect infection prevention activities.
Interpret and analyze data from different sources and integrate into infection prevention activities.
Need interpersonal skills that convey and positive and supportive attitude
Demonstrate a commitment of understanding and valuing individual differences and foster an environment of acceptance, fairness and mutual respect.
Need to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with administrators, physicians, nursing, public and all levels of hospital personnel.
Educate and communicate to a broad continuum of disciplines such as physicians, managers, staff and administrators.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN)
Current, unencumbered Oregon State Registered Nurse(RN) license
Certification in Infection Control upon hire or obtained within 2 years of hire
4 years of clinical experience
Knowledge of current microbiology, infectious diseases, antimicrobial therapy, immunizations, aseptic technique, and patient care practices
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Master’s degree in nursing or public health
Working knowledge of national databases and/or programs
Knowledge of epidemiological principles, statistical methods and analysis of infection prevention and control data
A strong background in sterilization, disinfection and sanitation methods in a healthcare facility
