ZGF Architects Senior Network Administrator in Portland, Oregon

ZGF is seeking a Senior Network Administrator to join our team in our Portland office. This position will assume responsibility for the design, planning, security, operations, and management of our firm-wide network and communication systems across our six North American offices. The role will coordinate with the rest of the IT Infrastructure team implementing firm-wide initiatives and assisting with high-quality support. A successful candidate will be a strong team player, should thrive in a multi-tasking environment, and able to think strategically while implementing complex, multi-site projects.

As a Senior Network Administrator, you will?

  • Propose strategic roadmap for adoption of new network technologies firm-wide in alignment with ZGF?s interests and department goals

  • Maintain, and continue to develop, internal and perimeter network security

  • Maintain system reliability by proactive monitoring of firm-wide systems and establishing appropriate redundancy and fault tolerance

  • Perform real-time network and web security monitoring using intrusion detection systems; Respond proactively to malware within the LAN and intrusion attempts

  • Coordinate with IT Infrastructure team on appropriate endpoint protection and security configuration

  • Perform traffic analysis and capacity analysis of network systems; Perform network optimization

  • Maintain relationships with vendors; Report issues to service providers and manage until case resolution

  • Manage and maintain LAN, WAN, SD-WAN, SAN, and internet services for all offices firm-wide

  • Manage and maintain Cisco Call Manager VoIP phone and Unity integrated messaging systems

  • Manage and maintain Cisco Video infrastructure including video endpoints, VCS/VCSE, and TMS

  • Manage and maintain remote access systems such as site-to-site VPNs, AnyConnect VPN, RADIUS

  • Manage and maintain Meraki wireless infrastructure

  • Document procedures, processes, and design

  • Research new and emerging technologies, making recommendations to IT Infrastructure team

  • Provide advanced assistance to the Desktop Support team within areas of expertise

  • Provide occasional on-call availability after hours and on weekends


  • Minimum 7 years? experience supporting a variety of core and edge network technologies

  • Bachelor?s degree in computer science or related relevant experience

  • Good work ethic ? timely, team-player, dependable, conscientious, respectful, and accountable; Exhibit sound judgment and possess excellent communication skills

  • Ability to plan and perform assignments as an integrated, cooperative team member while simultaneously, at times, be able to operate independently with minimal or no supervision

  • Absolute honesty and trustworthiness; personal and professional integrity

  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to provide strategic recommendations

  • Experience managing enterprise voice and video on a national/international scale

  • Experience designing, deploying, and maintaining LAN, WAN, SAN

  • Knowledge of IP telephony systems configuration and maintenance, specifically Cisco Call Manager; Knowledge of Microsoft Teams voice technologies is a plus

  • Strong understanding of switching technologies (port channels, spanning tree, LLDP, VPC, VSS)

  • In-depth knowledge of firewalls (traffic flow, ACLs, IPsec, NAT)

  • Strong knowledge of Cisco IOS, Cisco NXOS, OSI Model, IP Routing, IP Subnetting, TCP/IP protocol, Router/Firewall ACLs, VLANs, WLANs, BGP, EIGRP, OSPF

  • Understanding of SD-WAN architectures

  • Experience using and deploying network monitoring tools such as Netflow

  • SIP protocol knowledge

  • Desire and ability to proactively learn and master new technical and business skills

  • Able and willing to work occasional long hours, night or weekend work as needed to accommodate project schedules and requirements, as well as travel between offices

  • Certifications or equivalent experience: CCNP Routing & Switching, CCNA Voice, CCNA Security

  • Occasionally requires ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds

  • (Preferred) Linux server and appliance support

  • (Preferred) Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining Splunk

  • (Preferred) Network automation / programming experience (Ansible)

  • (Preferred) Experience using Azure AD services and virtual networks
