Johnstone Supply, Inc., the nation’s largest HVACR distribution Cooperative, has a great opportunity for an IT Support Specialist to join our Corporate team in Portland, OR.
As a member of the IT team and reporting to the IT Infrastructure Manager, the IT Support Specialist is responsible for providing support for all IT products and services including telecommunications, hardware, software, remote access and business applications.
Primary responsibilities include:
Provides timely, professional, and high quality customer service to users by responding to various hardware, software, networking and other computer-related technology needs, as well as phone-related problems. Gathers information from the user, evaluates and prioritizing issues to determine which can be immediately resolved and which require escalation to appropriate IT team members.
Maintains documentation for all IT Support calls by logging the creation, assignment, disposition and action taken on the job into call ticket software. Continually monitors and follows-up on jobs in the ticket software through resolution.
Performs preventative Maintenance for Operation Systems and Applications on PC’s, laptops, installation and maintenance of virus protection, backups, OS & application updates, etc.
Build, configure and set up of all new workstations and peripheral hardware; provides training to new users. Relocates existing computer equipment as needed.
Works with external customers (Stores) to resolve issues involving Corp hosted systems and processes; set up and troubleshoot POP3 email accounts.
1-2 years’ experience in a customer service or related field; Prior IT Support and basic printer/peripheral device troubleshooting experience helpful.
Knowledge of hardware and software in use within the organization, including Microsoft Office applications, PCs, thin clients, printers, copiers, etc.
Working knowledge of operation systems such as Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 10.
Problem-solving skills: listening to, interpreting, and meeting the needs of others; diagnosing and rectifying problems.
Ability to define problems, collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Skill in actively listening to others to understand needs or concerns.
Ability to demonstrate considerable tact and diplomacy in dealing with others.
